OK, I got a Super BlackHawk hammer from Brownells, as well as a Blackhawk Takedown Guide. The hammer seemed to be a simple swap without any fitting needed. I never broke my BH down before, so maybe I didn't need to remove the trigger, and loading gate spring, but I followed the guide until it got to "remove hammer".

Re-assembly wasn't exactly the reverse of dis-assembly, and when all together, the loading gate opens very rough, and with a "click", like it's hitting something. Also, the cylinder spins freely with the loading gate closed. My bet it's the loading gate spring - getting the trigger pin back through it was a bugger, and I'm guessing it's not seated right. Sound right? Any other ideas? Is there a link available with good pics?

It's late, and I'm getting stupid, so it's time to stop and sleep on it.

ok, forget it. It's the middle of the night, but I couldn't leave it alone, and got it back together. Getting that loading brake spring set just so is important, both in final function and getting that :cuss: trigger pin back in.

That Super Blackhawk hammer feels pretty good, though, so it was worth it. That, and not having to take it to a 'smith :(

I'm calling it a night.
