Ithaca NID Mag 10 3” Double Barrel Shotgun
Serial Number 500472 - made in 1937
Ithaca produced 1011 of these monsters in all grades starting in 1932 until 1942 when production forever ceased.
A handful of 12ga 3”mags were also included in this run.
Barrels are 32” full and full with mirror bright bores - no dents (wall thickness is like howitzer barrels). Barrels have twin real ivory beads. The outside barrel blue is 75%-80% with thinning at muzzle (case wear) and some light field scratches.
There are two small areas of removed corrosion that have left a dark stain (removed blood). A thumb print just ahead of right side of forearm and a 3/8” square 3” ahead of breech on rib –side of right barrel-these may clean-up.
No pitting. The barrels have never been re-blued and they “ring” true. This cannon is equipped with extractors.
The forearm iron and trigger guard have 100% blue. The forearm wood is of the beavertail type with very nice figure and deluxe fancy checkering and is in perfect condition.
The receiver retains 20%-30% case color-balance smooth bright. This gun is very tight and the tang lever upon closing returns right of center. This gun has twin triggers and there is black rubber recoil button attached to the rear or the trigger guard bow (smart).
The butt stock is also nicely figured and fancy checkered-no cracks or splits. It exhibits very light hunting mars. There is one 1” scratch between the right shield and the top tang (see picture) and one” ding on the right butt stock flank (see picture).
There is an Ithaca red sunburst recoil pad (handy) and the pull to the front trigger is 13”.
Lastly, this little beauty weighs in at about 11 #s.
