Bolt rifle build quandary.

I reference components purchases by means of local vendors or the more popular online outlets. Yes I have been told the same by my mentor that there is a shop here that he can get it from. Only for me to travel there it is a 4 hour round trip and they do not ship, also I can't see paying highly inflated prices like $90.00 per1k for primers or $50.00 per lb. for powders. Fortunately for him he is in a position that those numbers are a drop in the bucket... If I am forced to start paying those prices I will stop shooting until prices come down.

Varminterror, it was partially your comment on barrel swapping and also partially the action of my mentor that convinced me to move this way.
The basic action/trigger/stock/chassis is the foundation, barrels are consumables. My mentor is now in process of his 4th build in 3 years. His last was a 6mm XC which he never cared for so now he is working on a 6 Dasher.

Sadly I see this current world continuing for a few more years before we recover. Inflation will rise and supply chains will struggle and actually feed each other. I know from watching and experiencing it that our business at the Outdoor range is down almost 50% from last year.

Do not take apart a rifle that shoots well.

Why not? If it shoots well the first time it was put together, it’ll shoot well the second and third time.

Precision isn’t accidental. This premise is kinda like having concern that if you unscrew a working lightbulb, it might not come on again when you screw it back in…

Do not take apart a rifle that shoots well. Leave it and build anew.

The model 11 was purchased as a barreled receiver with the intention that all I wanted was the receiver and the trigger. The stock was broken and no history on the barrel. I got it for $100.00 plush shipping from a member here.
