So, with a barrel set in other than .410 you'd be alright? Or not because it is capable of being a shotgun. I've read that Bond won't sell in Mass.

I'm not sure, originally not even the non 410 models were legal in California, but that was due to them not having gone through the drop test. Now there is a Cali legal model, so there may be a mass model on the way.

So a two-shot pistol that is as big as a J-frame, almost as thick, has a hammer spring off a Ford truck, and needs a shooting glove to prevent losing skin from recoil. What's not to like?

Actually I only wore those gloves the first time I shot it. It recoils for sure, but not as bad as an airweight smith.

For self defense, there are a lot of options that are smaller, lighter, and give you more than two shots- but- those deringers do seem like they would be fun at the range.

Lemme guess... Jim K has never shot one? I have yet to wear gloves when shooting mine. The're just plain, simple, downright fun. They shouldn't always be a person's first choice for a lone defensive weapon.

"Lemme guess... Jim K has never shot one?"

A Bond? No, I have not. But I have fired several dozen different "derringers" over the years, including a real percussion Deringer and the quintessential Remington, and not one I would consider carrying unless it was the only gun I had. One I did rather like was the High Standard but it was made only in rimfire. The others were unreliable, hard to cock (the video shows the shooter having a hard time cocking the Bond), inaccurate, and I never found one with both barrels shooting even close to the same point. Yes, they are concealable, but I will accept a slightly larger size in return for three or four extra shots and a double action.

As to fun, sure. To me, shooting any gun is fun. But those guns are sold, and bought, as serious defense pistols. I am not at all sure they fill that need as well as other guns would.

Jim

You don't seem to feel that much differently than I. I just enjoy putting ten holes in a target with two pulls if a trigger a little more than you.

I went out today with mine in my pocket; didn't feel at a disadvantage at all. Maybe different if I were in Detroit or Chicago, but in Layton Utah I was right at home.

Can a J-frame produce the devastating stopping power of a .410 000 buck load?

I didn't think so.

These guns are not for everyone, but for those of us who "get it", the Bond Derringers just fill a niche and that is for a lightweight, compact handgun has more stopping power than anything in it's class. I adore mine and it is my EDC backup.

I have the cowboy defender ( no trigger guard) came with the 45/410 3inch barrel I've added
A 357/38 special
A 9mm
A 45acp
A 10mm all 3 inch barrels + a 4 1/25 inch 45/410 so I can shoot 3inch 410's
And for me its just a fun /cool range gun nd occasionally a bug
To my G29 and I love the fact you can use so many calibers with just a barrel swap
Thats what I love about mt g29 several calibers with nothing but a aftermarket barrel.
At the range just about everyone loves the look and mighty sound of my bond.:)

They do get a LOT of attention at the range.

Yeah. Must have at least a 3.5" barrel to fire the 3" 410 shell. I love that Winchester 000 Buck with 5 pellets.

I compared the size of my Bond Century 2000 (3.5" barrel) against my S&W Model 36 with a 1 7/8 barrel.

The Bond is 3/4" shorter in length and about 1/2 inch shorter in height. With the Bond I get five projectiles per trigger pull. With the J-Frame I have to pull it five times to get that at a greater expense.

Enjoyed it Good job I have some problems hearing and understood almost every word ,, that puts your Video in the best group .. Great job AAA+
