Bond Arms

Check this out at Bond Arms:
2.5" Rough Series Barrel (NEW) MSRP: $114.00
Available in
9mm
10mm
.327 Federal Magnum
.357/.38
.40 S&W
.44 Special
.45 ACP
.45 Colt

Maybe I should order one at my LGS tomorrow. Unless I want to stock another new ammo size, I would have to stick to 9mm, .44 Special, or .45 ACP. I already have a .357/.38 and a .45/.410. Else I consider 10mm, .327 Federal Magnum, or .40 S&W. But what is not going to beat up my hand any further?

Did someone say the .327 Federal Magnum can shoot other cartridges? I heard a .327 gun can also chamber .32 H&R Magnum, .32 S&W long and .32 S&W. I have several boxes of .32 S&W on hand. Yep, the .327 Federal Magnum barrel is the one I should get!

So my local gun shop cannot order the .327 barrel direct from Bond as they are not a dealer. Says the buy in is too much for the little demand for bond at their shop. So I guess I look online. I think another local GS is a dealer but they were selling guns for way over MSRP, so no way with that, can order online and pay shipping.

I'd start with Bucksnort outfitters. BTW, dealers don't have to order from Bond. Some distributors carry them.

I have no idea whether it would matter or not, but I'd feel more comfortable with #6. If you really want an explanation as to why I can make one up but that's the best I can do. :D
I think they would be about equal!
What of I said carjackers???

Speaking for myself, there's no set of circumstances I can think of at the moment where I would voluntarily choose bird shot (any size) for self-defense against anything that weighs more than a pound or two.

There are some .410 self-defense loads out there made especially for handguns. Here are a couple.

I have critical defense and Winchester buckshot.
I do remember Jeff Quinn mentioning bird shot for carjackers in one of his videos from a Bond Arms.
I prefer the bird shot for snakes and just for fun.
I haven't compared the critical defense to the buckshot, but plan on doing that soon.

If I were buying my first Bond Arms Derringer, it would be this new model. What a deal! The only low-buck Bond with a 3.5" barrel and it has the new B6 extended grip that is wider (front to back) than the standard extended grip! That is the grip that comes on the Cyclops.

Rowdy XL .45 Colt/.410. $349 MSRP. And this 3.5" barrel will take the 3" shot shells!

So I need to take all these barrels to the range for some comparison testing. With two guns it will be a lot easier as no delay switching out the barrels. Here are the potential comparisons:

230 grain .45 ACP vs 225 grain .45 Colt

For .38 Special vs 9mm, what is my best paring? I have the following ammo:

9mm: 115 grain HP, 115 grain FMJ, and 124 grain FMJ

.38 Special: 105 grain FMJ, 130 grain FMJ, 132 grain FMJ, and 158 grain FMJ

I am thinking best would be 124 grain 9mm and 130 grain .38 Special

Then for the last comparison, I would do .357 Magnum vs either .45 Colt or .45 ACP.

Seems last time I did a comparison the .357 beat me up worse than the .45 Colt. I guess whichever hammers my hand more between the .45 ACP and Colt is the one that should compare to the .357 Magnum. all my .357 Magnums are 158 grain JSP.

The .45 ACP barrel arrived today and I couldn't help fastening it onto the Roughneck. Roughnecks are available in 2.5-inch .45 ACP, but mine is a 3-inch! That makes a better match to my 3-inch .45 Colt barrel for the side by side comparison. Everything is still fitting in the case.

i find 357mag and 45acp to be similarly unpleasant to shoot, they bark and bite where 45lc thumps.

to me all 38sp is more pleasant than 9mm. my 38sp menu includes 38 short colts, wadcutters, 132gr and 158gr.

aaaaa, you “need” a 327mag barrel. i really enjoy 32long out of a b.a. derringer, slow ammo burn rate is part of the reason.

also, i ditched my wooden grips asap for longer rubber ones.

Yeah, .357s can be brutal in a Bond Derringer. .45 Colts are a bit better but will get to you after a box of 50. I had some cowboy 180 grain .45 Colts that you could shoot out of the Bond all day, but that supplier went out of business.

I actually pursued a .327 barrel at one time and could not find one. Later I went for the .38/.357. The 9mm came with the deal on the Roughneck so I was just glad to not have a duplicate barrel, and 9s are cheap to shoot.
