I wasn't even thinkin' about it all day, then went to take my pills last night and noticed it was from the PM Friday pill compartment, checked the calendar on my phone, sure 'nuf.
So, I set the alarm, got up early enough for a shower, and put on my leafy wear camo and headed out back. VERY early, just about 5:50, that spotted pig I call "grandson of spotty" (already shot spotty and son of spotty) came out 10 yards directly in front of me. I turned the lighted reticle on , could barely see the thing in the scope, but good enough in the moonlight to take a shot. Then I goofed, I kicked the safety off and it went "click" and the pig spooked, ran under and behind my stand and eased off into the woods behind me. DANGIT! I can ease that safety off, but didn't think about that. If he comes back, lesson learned. It was way quiet and still this morning. I'll probably have to gangster him with my SKS, though, and the green laser spotlight 'cause I figure he'll go 100 percent nocturnal now. Maybe not, who knows?
Man, lots of teal flying over, then the rain came. After the rain, some doves were walking around at 20 yards and I was tempted to unload the bow at them, think I might coulda hit one. But, I didn't. So, I took the bolt out and walked back, unloaded the bow on the target with a field point (gotta do that, can't leave a crossbow cocked) and now I'm drinking coffee thinking of the fun I had for 3 hours this morning despite not getting grandson of spotty. It's wonderful living in paradise.
