Reading this article this morning about new gun laws in Brazil. The president elected there last year made campaign promises about enabling citizens to obtain guns, a right which had been strongly curtailed under their last president.
According to the article, Brazil has a horrendous homicide rate. The new president noted the criminals had no problem obtaining guns, but was very difficult for honest citizens to get guns to defend themselves.
The process still includes licensing, psychological testing, and range qualification, but is much more pro gun, and new gun sales are showing increased numbers.
