New York Assault Weapons Bill To Be Heard On March 1

Friday, February 25, 2005: A bill that would drastically expand the state`s current assault weapons ban by redefining what constitutes an "assault weapon" will be heard in the Assembly Codes Committee on March 1. In addition to expanding the ban, A 2466 would require those who currently own any firearm deemed an "assault weapon" to register it, render it permanently inoperable or turn it in to the police.

Those who choose to register their firearms would be subject to an additional NICS check and would be required to have the firearm tested for entry in to the state`s ballistic imaging program. Last week, we reported that Senator Eric Schniederman (D-31) introduced S 2445, which also seeks to expand the assault weapons ban by outlawing many more guns by name and adding specific features to the definition of "assault weapon." Please contact your state Assembly member and Senator today and ask him or her to oppose A 2466 and S 2445!

We all knew this day would come... the first real battle in the war to expand & amend NY's AW Ban. The gauntlet has been thrown down, my friends. The only question left is... how are YOU going to respond to the challenge???

Are you going to stand up & be counted or are you going to continue to wallow in apathy & cynicism?

Are you going to continue to talk tough, but do nothing? Are you an Internet commando, or are you going to sacrifice your time, $$$, and effort to protect & restore our RKBA?

Are you a fair weather patriot, or are you willing to make room in your life for the political activism needed to ensure that we still enjoy some measure of freedom in this state?

Are you ready to acknowledge that this is not just a hobby or pastime that we are engaged in?

Are you willing to admit that this is a bare knuckles brawl to secure our birthright as free men?

Can you finally see that this is a battle to preserve & restore the cultural & philosophical legacy that is the grand American experiment?

Are you ready to shoulder the burden that this is YOUR fight, YOUR chance to shape the course of history, YOUR responsibility, and YOUR opportunity to forge a legacy of liberty and freedom for your children's future?

No free rides... http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=126122 ... and no excuses!!!

So... are you a patriot or a pushover?

Are you a citizen or a subject?

What exactly are you waiting for... a written invitation to our ongoing struggle against the creeping forces of tyranny & oppression?

Got something better to do with your time?

No worries… if they take away our guns there’s always golf, right???

The creeping forces of tyranny and oppression will keep grinding away, passing 'bills' and legislation and all the while will get less and less compliance with their foolishness until push comes to shove and blood flows. But go ahead and oppose it lawfully in every way possible in the meantime.

Don't take this wrong, but you poeple in NY,MA NJ, CA, etc..... need to get
your act together. Or else move to another state. The fight has to draw a line
somewhere. Fight or flee. make a choice. Nuf Said !! JMHO.

heh. I'm not going anywhere. Said it before and I'll say it again. The more restrictive the law, the lower the rate of compliance.

While the NYS Assembly web site has yet to be updated, Eagle20 (over at AR15.com) called the Codes Committee this afternoon (Mar 1, 2005) and was told that Bill # A02466 has passed & has been reported to the floor. This means that it now goes to the full New York State Assembly for a vote!

... And It's going to pass the Assembly too if you don't Rise to the Challenge and Fight this BS Tooth & Nail!!!

CALL, FAX, WRITE, & E-MAIL YOUR REPS. AGAIN, AND AGAIN, AND AGAIN, AND AGAIN, AND AGAIN...

We lost round one folks... it's entirely up to YOU whether we win or lose the next one.

Carpe Diem

Folks, don't get complacent!!!

The fight is still on & our "new & improved" AW ban is currently on the fast track to the floor of the NYS Assembly for a full vote...

New York Anti-Gun Bill Moves Forward

Friday, March 04, 2005 A bill that would drastically expand the state`s current "assault weapons" ban by redefining what constitutes an "assault weapon" was approved by the Assembly Codes Committee on March 1. In addition to expanding the ban, A 2466 would require those who currently own any firearm deemed an "assault weapon" to register it, render it permanently inoperable, or turn it in to the police. Those who choose to register their firearms would be subject to an additional NICS check and would be required to have the firearm tested for entry in to the state`s ballistic imaging program. The bill is expected to be considered on the floor early next week, so members are encouraged to contact their Assembly member and urge him or her to OPPOSE A 2466!

Time is short, so phone calls, faxes, and E-mails are the order of the day.

The rights that you save will be your own!

You know what the worst part is. No one has heard anything about this law. I talk to gun owners they know nothing about it and think its just gonna go away.

Funny, I was just thinking about how I had not heard anything about this until now. Curious how that happens.
I don't know what I can do to help.
Guess I can't believe the gov't can do such a thing! This is ridiculous!

Romanian SAR -1 AK-47?

I have just read other forums, and I am paranoid when it comes to my guns - LOL. Anyway someone indicated that the SAR-1 AK-47 will eventually break after you put 40 thousand rounds through it - almost like mileage on a car? Is that true? should I start buying replacement parts? I love the gun - it fires like a dream, and is very well built - not as good as my Rock River AR-15 though - LOL. Any thoughts?

PLUS REMEMBER IF YOU LIVE IN THE STATE OF NEW YORK VOTE REPUBLICAN FOR GOV, and for ASSEMBLY, and SENATE if you want to keep buying these grat guns.

The only question left is... how are YOU going to respond to the challenge???

I'm going to spend a week at the RWVA home range in NC working with my brothers in arms on our own rifle skills and tactics. At the end of the week, we will welcome a range full of newcomers to receive instruction in the fundamentals of rifle marksmanship from us, the new instructors.

What could be a better response than to help turn us back into a Nation of Riflemen?

Maybe the saying should be, "As goes California, so go the blue states"

New Yorkers need to fight back hard, or their state will end up sucking as hard as mine. The CA AWB (SB23) is the single worst law in America, in my opinion, and it's pretty much a bellweather for everything else. If you lose there, you are all but finished. Though it is a little fun playing games with your state's DOJ over what constitutes an asault weapon, until they seize it.

There's not much that be done. As long as voters choose gun-grabbers to be our representatives, we're screwed.
