Sunday Oct 23 was the first Briar Rabbit Steel plate Challenge. They managed to get the shoot in between the rain storms that moved through Ohio all weekend. There was a Lewis class payout and 3 new CZ 75b SA pistols given out, along with trophies. I'll do a quick run down of the match. There were 5 stages, each with 25 falling steel plates, shooters started at a low ready position. Four stages had some movement in them. All stages used barrels and painted orange lines to define the shooting box. Movement could be right to left or left to right, shooters choice. All stages had it's own RO to keep things even for everyone. The stages

Stage 1 The only stage with no movement.

Stage 2 Each end array from behind the barrels, center targets from between the barrels.

Stage 3 Each set of plates from behind a barrel.

Stage 4 Again each end from behind a barrel, the center plates from between the ends.

Stage 5 Each set of plates from behind the barrel in front of it.

They also had the CZ rep out with some demo guns. He set up a poker shoot with top prize being a NIB CZ75b SA pistol. Each target was $10 for 10 shots. You could shoot as many times as you wanted using his CZ SA demo gun. Here are a couple of pic to give you an idea of what was going on. TARGET and the RANGE The winning hand was a full house Kings over 10s.

A total of 3 guns and 3 knives were given out as well as trophies for each class, senior, junior and lady. Many thanks for all the hard work. It was a good shoot and I hope just the first of many.

Looks like a good time! I'll have to tag along to the next one, especially if they rustle up some more CZs.

Sounds like my kind of fun rain and all. How many shooters turned out for the event? What distance were the plates set up at? What were the winning times like? Enlighten me, I am unfamiliar with what a Lewis class payout is

They had 71 shooters in 4 classes. Winning times were, Open Auto(91.24), Stock Auto(104.46), Open Revo(144.35), Stock Revo(189.00). All shooting was done at about 30'-35'. An overview of a Lewis Class payout can be found HERE It's a PDF file.
