Has anybody used the Howa 1500 actions from Brownells? I just ordered one in 6mm ARC and was planning on putting it in a Boyds. How good of shooters are they?

They're excellent actions and have a fast lock time, much like Sakos. I don't know about the latest generation, but getting a factory trigger lightened was a chore.

If you need an older trigger to play with and tune up I have one for you.

New ones arnt hard to mess with. Id have to go back and look at my last thread on it but i think i had my 300s set at 1.5-1.75lbs. my 6.5CM i didn't change springs in or polish and that one went down to 3ish.

Both of the 1500s I had were solid rifles, accurate as anything ive owned in the price range, and took well to a little elbow grease. I have a 6ARC UL noddling around the back of my head as a goat sheep rifle. Being really selective on scope might keep it under 6lbs.

I dropped this 6.5 Grendel Howa mini action in a Bell & Carlson. I really like it.

6.5 Grendel 1500 mini action in a Boyds Prairie Hunter stock.
It's pretty heavy but shoots amazing.
I've since replaced the ****ty Howa magazines with hinged floor plate and internal box mag.
Yea, the magazine is pretty flimsy

I'd like to do a suppressor for it now, I just have a huge hang up about paying the tax stamp. It isn't the money so much as the principle.

I had a Howa 1500 for a while. Was solid. Got rid of it a few years ago in a trade.
Howa actions are used by Weatherby in a lot of their guns.
Weatherby uses them in their Vanguard series but the Mark V and others are different.

The Howa1500/Weatherby Vanguard is a solid action though. I have several Vanguards and the actions lock up tight and I've had no issues with them.

Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. But it all came together yesterday. I plum bobed the scope last night.
I like the green.
Looks good.
They definitely shoot but the magazines suck. Badly. No metal aftermarket option available that I ever found.
The Internal box mag with hinged floor plate was expensive but it's really nice.
It came from Jefferson Outdoor.

I don't think the factory mags are that bad, but I didn't like the bottom "metal" (plastic). I replaced mine with a DIP unit and added an extended magazine release. Then cut the magazine down for more of a flush fit. I haven't done it yet, but understand if you cut the follower without cutting down the body the magazine will hold seven. The cut-down magazine holds four.

Mine’s a shooter… IMG_1091.jpeg Did NOT like their box mag. Currently has a bottom drop magazine. I’m probably doing a PTG or similar aics conversion.

Still shoots.
