Hi all,

Today, I was at a pawn shop and had to decide between a Browning 2000 and Remington 1100 in 12 Gauge. Both had 28" ribbed barrels, were in excellent condition and the asking price was $300. I'd expected the Browning to be much more expensive. I ended up getting the 1100 based on positive reviews I've read on this board, but I'm also wondering about that Browning 2000. Anyone have one and how do you rate it compared to the Remington? Is $300 a good price for one in great condition?

Wow, I guess not many people own Browning B-2000s. I haven't found much relevant information or many reviews online. Apparently, the gun, introduced by Browning in the 1970s to compete against Remington's popular 1100, was a failure in the marketplace. I wonder if it means that the design was inferior and if it never caught the public's attention. Guess I made the right decision by going with the 1100.

The 2000 was a bit radical, and failed miserably at capturing a market share. The few I've shot near have happy owners. It is an orphan, so parts and service in the future are chancy.

OTOH, the 1100 is well known, wide spread and has lots of stuff available to fit it for a particular shooter and mission.

If my aim in trapshooting was to garner trophies and even make money at it, I'd probably get an 1100, set it up with an overbore barrel and adjustable stock, a Timney trigger and shoot 1 1/8 oz loads without worrying about a flinch.

I have owned and shot my gas 200 for many years. During to 80s it was my main duck and goose gun. Almost every year on the first hunting trip the extracter would break. Once replaced it would work the rest of the season. A very good shooter, and worked well on the North Dakota ducks. I still have it in the gun safe.
