you will make more money selling it local, forget the stores you mentioned. you may get half price at them. it should bring 300-400 to a person who wants one. i bought a mint 12ga 3" mag wingmaster left hand for 400 dollars late last year. eastbank.

Definitely not GM or Cabellas unless half value is good enough for you. Better would be a consignment sale through your lgs.

eastbank is right, a plain barrel is worth around $300 and a bent rib barrel is closer to $400. That should be an easy gun to sell. No need to let Cabela's or others beat you up on price. Those outfits t typically offer 1/2 price or less. After all they plan to sell it for a profit, so they can't invest much in it.

Gun stores usually offer around 50% of what they can sell it for. Not a rip off, just the realities of a business that must make enough profit to cover their overhead and payrole as well as a reasonable profit. Some gun stores will sell it on commission so they don't fork out any cash for it to get it on the shelf. This will get you more money than you would get by selling it directly to the store.

For best price you need to sell it directly to a buyer by posting it for sale in the Gun section of your local news paper or put a notice up on the bulletin board at your local gun club.

You can also put it for sale on this web site, look down the categories. You can also use other pay "e-bay like" sites, for example Gun Broker.

You don't need to use consignment at a local gun shop for a long gun, especially in most places I am aware of. I am purposely not familiar with certain socialist states. I have sold many guns, advertised locally and on GunBroker. I got more money faster using GunBroker, and the costs are darned low. Just make sure you ship to - not through - an FFL, they pay the freight, and get payment by U.S. Postal Money order. If they ask about Cashier's Check tell them the bank says five (5) weeks to clear. Daisy chain cashier's checks are the latest Craigslist scamming tool. In the end they will take it back out of your account.

LGS had one on consignment for 425... Probably high, as I bought a used browning bps off the same rack for an extra $50..

Prices include California uplift.

I would MUCH rather have a mint 870 Wingmaster than a new BPS. There are many who share my opinion. Wingmasters have a very loyal following and for good reason.

+1 on this. I own two and am always on the lookout for more.

NOT at any type of gun store.

GunBroker or GunAuctions (dot com) would be your best bet. If you are any where near Columbia SC it would be my pleasure to sell it for you on consignment .. if you don't want to deal with the photography and shipping.

I wish I didn't already have a couple, my wife would probably skin me alive.

Maybe I could get a Wingmaster for my wife, interested? She's a good cook.

Yup. I had a fancy finish BPS and tossed it in the river when it jammed when I had a great chance to triple on canada geese. Nothing but Wingmasters and Benellis in my safe now.

Go to your local trap/skeet type of club and post a for sale sign on the bulletin board. You might also go there if they are having a big shoot - someone is always selling personal guns at the clubs I shoot at.
