I am considering purchasing a Browning X-Bolt Stainless Stalker in a 7mm caliber.
I was hoping to get some opinions about this setup. What are your opinions on the 7mm round, i have heard good and bad about this round and i was hoping to sift through some of the garbage.
And the Browning X-Bolt Stainless Stalker, anyone that has had experience with this rifle i would greatly appreciate your input.
Also, dose anyone know the "Cost" price of this rife, because i have a connection who can get it for $1 over cost.

Welcome to the Forum.

If you're talking about the 7mm Rem.Mag. cartridge, I am one who thinks it is an extremely good all-around cartridge and it gives me a great smile whenever I fire it...
I have a Browning BAR MkII Safari in 7 Mag and also a Remington 700 BDL.
Both guns are fun to shoot.

Your choice in a Browning will no doubt be a good one and bring you a lot of pride of ownership.

Google up 7mm Rem.Mag. and you'll get some really interesting reading!
Good Luck!:)

I am another fan of the 7mm Rem Mag cartridge. In terms of versatility, it easily matches the utility of the venerable .30-06. Both are capable of taking any non-dangerous game animal on the planet. Neither is a varmint cartridge, even if both can be loaded and used for the purpose.

The 7mm really doesn't offer much of an advantage over the .30-06 at the muzzle--maybe 100 to 150 fps with comparable bullet weights from a similar length barrel. This means the 7mm really doesn't recoil much more than the 06 from a similar weight rifle. It is a little sharper, but if you can handle the 06, the 7mm probably isn't out of your reach. It isn't at all unreasonable or abusive from a 8 to 9 pound sporter. It wouldn't be my choice for a first rifle for someone who doesn't have experience behind a serious centerfire, but it won't beat you up if you have a decent understanding of recoil management. Keep it tight and you'll be fine.

The advantage of the 7mm comes from the efficiency of its projectiles. There is an excellent selection of .284 caliber hunting projectiles with outstanding BCs. Esp when dealing with bullets of 160 gr and over, like the 160 gr Accubonds I use, you get hunting bullets BCs of long drag match bullets. The 7mm can push these bullets at respectable velocities, and their ability to resist drag means they really make an impact downrange. So the advantage of the 7mm only increases as you get downrange.

I love the 7mm Rem Mag, but then, with the recoil of the 06, the trajectory of the .270, and downrange energy approaching that of the .300 Mags, there isn't a whole lot not to love.

I have a 7 mm mag winchester stainless synthetic.Love the gun I have a nikon 3-9 scope. My gun has the browning boss system on it.This gun shoots 1/2 groups at 100 yards all day.
It is a little heavy because of the longer barrel

dose anyone know the cost price of this rifle, or where i can find that information?

Near as I can tell, the X-Bolt is available in no less than 3 standard 7mm variants, 7mm-08 Rem, .280 Rem, & 7mm Rem Mag... (the newer short mags are also available)

My personal favorite among these is the .280 Rem. It offers the best of both worlds when compared to the 30-06, which, is the yardstick by which all others are measured. The .280 Rem can be loaded for lighter recoiling loads for smaller/medium sized game, and can also be setup to perform near the 7mm mag levels (if you're a reloader). It's flatter shooting and carries more energy down range than the venerable -06.

my .02

an X-Bolt Hunter is on my list of rifles to get
