Of all places, I saw a used Browning BPS HD/Tactical (20" Cyl. barrel, synth. stock, 5 rd. capacity) at Gander Mountain for $249. Seems like a good price as they had a new one for $359. Your thoughts?

Oddly, they also had some 870 Expresses used for $199 which is reasonable around here. This from the store where everything else is outragously priced, especially ammunition (.45 LC Winchester for $50/box!). Even an MTM plastic ammo box is $5.99 vs. $1.99 at Cabelas. Rant over.

If it is in good condition, that should be a very good price. BPS shotguns usually go for a bit more than Remington/Winchester.

It literally looks as if it has never been used, no scratches, no wear marks on the action bars or mag tube. I already have an 870 w/police stocks, 20" bead sighted fixed IC barrel, so I don't have a need for another tactical SG, but that price seemed inexpensive.

Just bought a new one off gunbroker for $249. This is the new style. ( the one that the mag tube doesnt come out to the end of the barrel.)
The one I have, when it was still on Brownings web site it said it held 7+1. It will actually only hold 5+1 and it doesnt matter if they are 2 3/4 or 3".
The old style. The one that the mag tube is the whole length of the barrel. I beleive they hold 7+1 of 2 3/4 and 5+1 of 3"

P.S.
I am assuming the Browning BPS HD you are talking about is the same as the Browning BPS High Capacity.

i just paid $430 for a used 28 inch duratouch duck blind camo BPS that was unfired .....still had stickers on it...... if you like pumps and have never shoot one you should....sooooooo smooth

Ford, yes the BPS I saw is the BPS High Capacity. The one I saw has the mag. tube that does not go all the way to the end of the barrel (like yours). It must be the 5+1 model. Because the barrel ring seems to be further out than regular BPS's, I am assuming another BPS barrel would not fit on it.

As an aside, another Gander oddness. I also saw two SuperNova's on the used rack, one for $349 and the other for $500. Both black, 28" Ducks Unlimited models. Can't see any cosmetic differences. Why is one $150 more than the other?

That is a good price IMHO. I just bought a new one exactly like the one you are looking at for $329 at Gander Mountain as a Christmas present to myself.
They are smooth and I really like the tang safety and bottom eject. Get it, you won't be sorry.
Yes, the Browning site from 2009 states it holds 7, but I called Browning just after I bought it and they said it really holds five. No matter, it is a well balanced gun for as short (20") of a barrel that it has.
That is the second BPS I own, the other is an older one somewhere around 10+ years and was the last year for the game scene 'engraving' on all the models. It is my Goose/Duck gun and has never failed me. I expect the new one to do as well.
