My local academy has Browning 9mm 147 grain JHP called the "BXP". It has a neat looking hollow point but I can't find any info on the round at all on the interwebs. Anyone tried any? I have bought a box to test Saturday but my impatience has got the best of me and I want to know now if anyone knows anything else about it.

no personal xp with it and w/o any track record of this ammo, I wouldn't rely on it for defense. I thunk with all this new gun manufacturer branded ammo like Ruger, Sig, Browning, and others, unless it's .380 or below, I'm not switching what I carry to that stuff. I can understands to some extent why people would embrace new/exotic ammo in the "mousegun" calibers, but for 9mm and up, which already has a large and well documented set of test results, Idgi.

Pure marketing. Browning does not produce ammo. They repackage and sell ammo. Colt and S&W have also been doing this for many years.

It is made for Browning by Winchester Ammunition but it is not exactly a rebranding as Drail suggests. It looks like a patented and unique hollow point design that Winchester developed for Browning. Fn Herstal owns Winchester Arms and Browning but Olin owns Winchester Ammunition. One can assume that Browning/FN Herstal approached Olin/Winchester about producing this ammo.

I have not seen any testing on the ammo.

Confirming it IS made under license for Browning by Olin/Winchester.
I'm in line for some, but it's still so new they don't have all calibers in production yet (as of last week) & you probably won't see available in volume for a bit.

I was able to pick up a few boxes of .22LR at Cabela's last week.

Seems to have the same ballistics as CCI Velocitor. Lots cheaper though. Velocitor is $8/50 rounds, Browning BPR was $11/100 rounds. 40 grain plated HP bullet going 1435 at the muzzle.

I have not tested it out yet.

well my local Academy has the hollowpoints in stock for all but 9mm that they are producing and a local pawn/gun shop has nearly 2000 rounds of the 147 grain FMJ.

I gave you what I got last week in response to an update request.

They don't have ALL planned calibers in production yet & have not shipped in volume yet.
If it's showing up here & there, great.

Looks like very good marketing. My last cabelas gunsports catalog makes it out to be the next great ammo.
