I'm a big fan of browning a bolts and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a nice bolt action rifle.

I held a X Bolt in a GS and decided it was too flashy for me....

My question is, for someone looking for a production long range gun for $1000-$1500 range is the Mcmillan Stocked X Bolt as good as the advertising makes it out to be????

Anyone currently own one please chime in.

Thanks

Can you buy the stock from McMillan, if so I would buy a western hunter ss. The barrel may not be as heavy but they shoot good anyways.tho I like the Browning I can't get my self to self much over $1000 for one. What cartridge are you thinking.

Guy I know wants a 300 win mag. I'm trying to convince him into 7mm mag (so I can shoot it too hah. I'm only 150lbs 30-06 is enough recoil for me idk if a 7 mag kicks more) but I think he really wants the 300.

I think the rifle might be over the budget but I'm still curious if they are worth the $$$

We talking about the hells canyon lrm ambush?
Looking at them it sounds like there maybe some extra effort put into them to make them more than just a sum of their parts.
The parts themselves I like, but for the cost you can get a nice rifle from a bunch of different companies.
Anyway, I can't actually answer the question, but I will say that if they built that on an Abolt action, and I had the cash, I'd buy it.

This was on a really, really cold day with a pretty stiff cross wind. By the time I got the third shot off I was so cold I could barely feel the trigger

I see the Hells Canyon has a threaded barrel for a break. With that I would go with the 300 WM. It is a little better in the wind.

I have owned an A Bolt in 300 mag with a boss it was very accurate (sub moa).

Brownings just always seem to shoot good. I've had my eye on the hells canyon speed since it came out. The I still thing there a little to pricy, there is a another model that I forget the name similar to the hcs but something like $200 less. I'd go full koolad and get the 28 nosler

Guy who it's for doesn't reload, and wants easy to get affordable ammo. 28 nosler is too expensive.
I suggested the 7mm mag to shoot it more than the 300 mag. 300 mag must beat you up at the bench after time.

With a good break and double hearing protection its not bad. You do need to add 30-40gr to equal the same BC of a .284 bullet tho, so often a hot 160-180class 7Mag will shoot a little flatter and drift a little less.
They also land with less authority, but mostly its not a huge deal.
