Bummed about my new LCP

lilmf:

I don't believe that the KelTec P3AT made in Cocoa, Fl. was an original design.. Best I remember it was an "improved" something else..

Could be wrong, but I believe I read that someplace back when I had a KT P32 and a KT P11

I doubt there are very many "original" firearm designs that haven't been copied, cloned, improved, or somehow changed by some other firearms manufacturer at a later date.

No offense, just sayin'... :scrutiny:

Best Wishes,

Jesse
I have an LCP and I have a Sig P220. When I disassembled the Sig, I was taken aback by the similiarities of the way the barrel and action works, in fact the parts look very similar to an LCP, just three times larger!

So here's the pre-range report: I scored another 200 rounds- unfortunately for diagnostics it is still PMC. Nothing against the brand, I just wanted some different variables. Got the new mag and marked it. Taking pencil and paper to mark exactly how many (please, please, please be none) malfunctions I get. Will start w/ 50 rounds through the new mag. If no FTE's I will replace the old mag just to verify. Just to be clear, I have a VERY firm grip - I am 100% certain that is not the issue, and the fact that it was almost always the same round in the mag reaffirms this. I am hoping for a good day - but prepared for a bad one - so I am bringing 250 rounds of .45acp, the PT1911 will finally hit 8,000 rounds tomorrow. Plus, I get to shoot a box of .454 and about 100 .45 Colts through my brand new Puma. So even if the .380 gives me a hard time I should still have 2 very good reasons to come home happy. :D

I keep telling people to stick with the Kel-tec p3at but everybody seems to want the LCP. The more people I meet that have them don't hold onto them very long but they all say the same thing, "To many feeding problems to be trusted as a CCW." I love Ruger arms so I'm kinda disipointed with the whole thing at this point. But the shortcomings of the LCP will not make my purchuse of a SR9 any less sweet. Sometimes even the best designs fail, so all in all its not entirely Ruger's fault there are to many variables to say that all of the LCP's are lemon's.

As for the Sig 220 being the same as the LCP and the design not coming from Florida. I can only say this the Sig in the pic is Black and so is the LCP. Alot of the designs share similarities thanks to the late Great John Browning.

I have NEVER had a malfunction with mine except for the one time I purposely limped it....lo and behold, stovepipe! My gf has had issues with it and we suspect limp-wrist in her case as well.

Several in here have recommended a finger extension and it does help considerably. Mine is also equipped with CT that makes it that much nicer.

FWIW I broke my LCP in with PMC. 200 rounds of PMC with no malfunctions and no malfunctions with any other brand that I have run through it since. If I had as many malfunctions as the OP had, I would send it back. That sounds way out of character for these guns based on my experience and the experiences of others that I know that own LCP's.

I agree....send it back. Mine has worked to perfection before and after the recall.

i apologize for the picture but it's the best I can do with this cellphone.

Well guys, thanks for all the advice. The gun is going back to Ruger. I really thought it was the mag, oh well. Maybe I will buy a TCP while I wait to get the LCP back. Despite the failures it did make me see the convenience and all around usefulness of the little micro pistols. Thanks again.

I have fired over 300 rounds of White Box FMJ f bullets through mine without a hitch. One thing I noticed about my LCR that it was covered with heavy machine oil inside and out when purchased new. Did you clean your's well before firing it?

JMOfartO:

No many how many "anythings" are manufactured some will have problems. I hate it that your LCP seems to be one with "problems", but if you'll spend any time on the dedicated LCP forum (www.elsiepea.com) you'll find the vast majority of LCP owners are happy campers.

I'm one..

Best Wishes,

Jesse
