1st malfunction ever for my late LCP Gen 2 (not LCP II).

On the 8th Round Fired (7+1) on a brand new Ruger 7 Round Extended Mag it took the final casing and loaded it back into the magazine resulting in a locked back slide and a jammed magazine. Took considerable force to remove magazine at which time the case was still in the magazine. Didn't think to take photos.

1. Ammo - Aguila 95 Grain FMJ.
2. New Ruger Extended Magazine
3. Stoppage was the last round fired out of the first time this magazine was loaded.
4. 100 more rounds fired through magazine without repeat.
5. 508 rounds through the gun at time of stoppage.

Anyone seen this stoppage before? Cause?

I believe you are ready for a new recoil spring. In my 2009 LCP2 (not II) the slide accelerated so fast the case jumped off the extractor. I installed a #12 spring and problem stopped, recoil was much less. If you shoot mainly max loads a #13 Wolff spring might be best. I've heard to replace recoil springs at 500-1000 rounds. $9 well spent!!
One last observation, most of the problems I experienced were on the last round. The mag follower seemed rough and tacky, I polished and lightly lubed. No subsequent malfunctions.

After discussing it with a buddy who is a Smith, the follower likely stuck allowing the casing to easily load back In magazine. The fact that this was the first final round ever out of that magazine makes this more likely.

Okay problem number two and not the last round. Tried a new brand of ammo (someone gave me two boxes) Federal American Eagle 95 gr FMJ and on round 35 it failed to return to battery during a string of fire. I reloaded it into the magazine and attempted to sling shot it 3 separate times. Finally just "slapped" it into battery and it fired, extracted and ejected normally. Other 99 rounds fired normally. I'm thinking the one round was out of spec but I didn't have calipers with me. But weak springs could have contributed.

It could be a weak recoil spring not returning the slide fast enough to load properly. Back when I had an LCP a heavier Wolff recoil spring made it nicer, should I say less miserable to shoot, and more reliable.

I haven't seen that, and I have just over 1,000 rounds through my LCP gen 2.

That being said, my LCP is at Ruger right now. I pulled the trigger after loading the magazine, the gun fired but the slide never came back. It's locked up so tight with the empty casing in the chamber I couldn't budge it with a vice and a mallet.
