Quick question for anyone who may have one of these scopes.

Where are they made? Where is the glass sourced from?

I'm finding different answers. One uTuber states his piece was made in Japan, while a person in the comments states that his said Philippines.

I emailed Burris but thought I would post and find out if someone who has one can tell me with their scope.

I'm beginning to wonder if they started out sourcing glass from Japan (Light Glass Works) and then changed as the scope reputation got established for something cheaper. Call me a cynic but I've seen companies do such things in the past.

Well, my post sat the weekend. And I found a Vortex Viper PST 2.5-10x32mm FFP that was NIB on eBay so I went that route. This was the scope I was trying to find but couldn't track down a Gen1 like I found and the Gen2's don't seem to have the reputation. But finally found one and it's on its way.

I have a 4-20 that was made in the Philippines.

Thank you for the reply, appreciate it!

How do you like it? How does it compare to any other scopes you have?

That Burris line seems to be getting really good reviews, and I would've liked to try it.

I like the scope, I have it on an RPR and have shot it out to 1000 yards or so. The turrets are nice, and I like the reticle a lot. The glass isn't as good as more expensive scopes, I'd get it a 6 or 7 out of 10. I have a friend with a Steiner and it's noticeably clearer. It was a decent buy for $1000.

It seemed your review mimics a lot of others out there. That it had everything going for it (good turrets, reticle, 34mm tube, weight was ok, FFP) if they could have upped the glass quality.

I was really close to purchasing the one I started this thread about, until I finally found a Gen 1 Vortex PST I mentioned above.

Thanks for your reply.

you're welcome. I own some Vortex optics as well, and I like them as well. I have one of the new Diamondback FFP 6-24's on my NRL22 rifle, pretty sweet scope for the money. I'm sure you'll enjoy the PST a lot.
