Bushmaster ACR recall!

The ACR already seems to elicit a "Meh" at best from most. This certainly isn't going to help.

Doesn't sound like Bushmaster is covering shipping, at least shipping to Bushmaster. After shelling out that kind of money, they better cover shipping both ways.

Oh boy, the Shrubmaster really choked with this ACR debacle.

And to think that this rifle could have singlehandedly changed the black rifle landscape. At $1500 I would already own one. Now with this recall and general dislike of the Shrub I probably never will.

Sad, Shrubbie, just sad.

I think they are covering shipping both ways as well, so the overly vague demand of compliance won't be necessary.

Is this the first time any manufacturer of a complex machine has had problems with their initial model of a product?
There are often going to be bugs in early models. This will get worked out.
Eventually, the price will go down to where it should be ....
and .... maybe then .... I'll be interested.

.I wonder how the Remington version is working out?

I really wanted an ACR/Massada until I saw the price. I bought two AR-15s for the price of one ACR and never looked back. Bushmaster/ Remington will never see my money now.......:scrutiny:......... NEVER !!!!

your looking at the reason i picked up my ar instead of an acr...i really hope this gun bombs and bushmaster lives on to regret it.

can cause the rifle to malfunction and fire off the entire magazine at once.

Seems that this would be more likely to increase sales among the current target audience, not decrease them.

Sad that even when the domestic manufacturers take their time getting something to market it is still fraught with issues.
This is why we are turning into a third world country,,,

That's quite a serious malfunction. Hopefully they get it fixed quick.

The biggest knock I had on the ACR after handling one in person was the weight. I just couldn't figure out why it was so much heavier than the FN SCAR, which is a similar design concept and is roughly the same size. If they cut the weight down, use a 1:7-twist barrel so I can have more ammo choice, and lower the price it would be a tempting item.

Has there been any actual word about what the root cause of the problem is? Since it is supposed to have regular AR trigger group components it's hard to believe the Bushmaster could have botched that up. I'm guessing that the firing pin is maybe a bit heavy and leading to slam fires with some sensitive ammunition. If I recall correctly the FS2000 originally had problems with that.

If anybody knows for sure it would be good to know.

The ACR actually doesn't bring ANY new features to the field. Belt fed weapons have had quick change barrels since the '40s. AR15's have had multiple caliber conversions since at least the '80s. Piston driven gas systems have been in production since 1947 at the latest. All the ACR did was bring a bunch of features into one weapon. Heck the Robinson Armament XCR has multi-cal uppers and a piston driven system and does it for about $1700.

And my XCR has been flawless. It feels pretty light to me too, especially for not being made of plastic.
