under new name, Windham Firearms. The former owner, Dick Dyke, has decided to reopen the facility under a new name now that his non-comp clause has expired this past April. He will be re-hiring about half of the former workers. This is good news for the area and the firearms industry.:D

Good for him, I know someone who got put out of work by that closure, I hope he's able to get his job back!

Drake had a non-compete with Cerebus when he sold Bushmaster, and the contract period just expired.....so my guess is that he's going to fire up the same AR manufacturing lines with the same employees.

OOPS

His name is Dick Dyke. My mistake. As far as what they will be making, I am hoping to see some different offerings other than just AR's.

I just heard about this yesterday, pretty cool, I think it was 75 or so workers that lost their jobs when they closed. Maine can use every job it can get its hands on.

Hopefully Windham Weaponry can make its own name without being associated with the current incarnation of Bushmaster Firearms, it would be sad to see a company full of talented and dedicated employees have live down Remington’s mishandling of the Marlin and Bushmaster brands.

I for one would definitely look to see what they have to offer. I bought his Bushmaster products, one before Remington and on after. They have both performed fairly well, but Remington seems to "cheapen" everything they touch lately...not for the better of the customer who looks to own a firearm for a lifetime. Regardless it's good to hear that there will be a number of people going back to work.

No, that is not what that article says. Cerberus, the current owner of Freedom group, owned the finance division of the chrysler company.

Glad to here he's starting up again.

That's great news for those folks who will get rehired, and for Maine. The more quality products that are actually manufactured in the US, THE BETTER. I also hope Dick Dyke runs an environmentally friendly operation. Clean manufacturing is good for the locals.

Ive yet to buy any bushmaster products but Ill have to watch to see what Windham Firearms has to offer.

I have close to one of the last BAR-10s made by the original Bushmaster. It is a fine weapon, has consistent shot placement, and the only change I made was to install a JP Enterprises trigger and hammer group.

If Windham Firearms carries on the former Bushmaster quality, I wouldn't hesitate to buy a gun from them.
