"But I'm a super-citizen!" - NJ cop arrested for AW possession

Everything about this case is sickening :barf:

1. Outlawing "Assault Weapons" is just a feel good law for the sheeple
2. An M1 Carbine is banned, but the much more capable M1 Garand or M14 type rifles are not. This proves that NO thought went into the law.
3. What need does an assault rifle fill for an off-duty police officer that it does not fill for other civilians?

edited to correct silly grammatical errors - D'oh.

4. It's former Sgt. Moose. He was retired.

That means he was not a member of the Holy New Jersey Police, "Judge" Coleman. If he's not a cop, then the exemption shouldn't apply to him, should it? You might have caught this little point if you'd been awake, or interested.

I doubt that this case would ever be used as a precedent for defense in any future case.

Illegal transfer

Another thing to look at:

When he received the M-1 from the woman who's husband had died did he fill out a "Certificate of Elligibility" for that rifle? If not then that was an illegal transfer of a firearm.

For those of you not living in our fantasy land a "Certificate of Elligibility" is required to be filled out in the private transfer of a rifle or shotgun during a private sale. After filling it out the seller retains a copy and the buyer retains a copy.
If the firearm is found at a crime scene and they can trace the firearm to the original purchaser, that person must show proof that he legally sold the firearm. The police will then take a copy of the "Certificate of Elligibility" and visit the buying individual and so on and so on until one unlucky sucker did not transfer the legal way and gets nailed. Fun isn't it?

If you live in this state get involved with us to try and change these stupid laws. www.njcsd.org

Mikul

I used to live in NJ. I never bought a gun until Florio shoved the NJ AWB down our throats. I purposely acquired about 40 magazines over greater than 15 round capacity. I can distinctly remember telling my wife as we passed the "Welcome to Delaware" sign on the Delaware Memorial Bridge on the way to Texas, "now you won't have to worry about bailing me out of jail." After the wide eyes and the "W-W-What!?" I explained the law. She just shook her head and asked if I could go to jail for owning metal boxes with springs in them in Texas, and I told her "no, Texas is part of America."

I'd like to thank Florio and Clinton for getting me interested in guns, and in jump-starting my collection efforts. I might only have 2 or 3 if they had left things alone....

Not surprised....

Look at the NJ Supreme Court decision that the "30 day rule" in elections didn't apply to Frank (The Democrat) Lautenberg

It probably would have been strictly enforced had it been a Republican in the same situation.

Thankfully, I escaped "Joisey" 30 years ago and never looked back
