SB 5078. No more magazines holding over 10 rounds to be sold in Washington. Dictator, er, Governor Inslee said he'll sign it when it hits his desk.

AG Bob Ferguson says it'll make everyone safer in Washington and lower the rate of gun crime.

Yay.

It’s not going to do a dam thing but send out more 2A voters and give us a crawling chance at freedom from Seattle (We the King Country)

Make sure you kids buy mags and keep the records too. I don’t know what the age is for mag purchase but I thought it was a good idea

This hit is Colorado in 2013. I stocked-up in advance and even had a notarized list of magazines owned by my son (now 16) at the time.

The funny thing is that last week, I could have bought everyone of those mags again by stopping at a few LGS locations. The law is being completely IGNORED by most non-Big Box sellers (and their suppliers). Really, the only time it comes-up is an extra charge in a criminal event.

However, with the end of local pre-emption, some municipalities are starting to throw "stuff" against the wall and see what sticks in term of "common sense" gun control. How that will impact mag possession and off-color purchasing remains to be seen.

Just think, 10 years ago, Washington was the third most pro-2A state in the US behind only Alaska and Vermont. Now were in the bottom 10.

All you "move to a free state" people need to see what happens when people actually do. Co, Wa destroyed. Tx soon. Mt, and Id next.
When pro-gun leftists move, they don't give up their leftist views. None of them are turned my gun rights, or any rights.
They will never vote differently. Stop welcoming people who want to kill you.

And to all the too lazy to vote, too lazy to contact your rep people out there? I suppose I can't say here.

who’s too lazy to SHOW UP?

Not me, but I know when I’m beat by take no prisoners political theater. Washington is HUGE like CA and runned by 2 counties. Besides, the weather is horrible 8 month out the year

Montana and Idaho aren't turning blue. They both passed a bunch of pro-gun laws the past few years, like stand-your-ground and constitutional carry. Texas is a toss-up, we'll see what happens there; I agree with you on Colorado and Washington.

I hope. But I see a whole lot of WA's moving over to "the free state". They Love guns. They love "freedom", but they don't love either more than they love to feel good vote any socialist with a "D" next to their name.

Or any initiative that the blue party tells them to.

I watched Kalispell turn purple, and Missoula is already.

I see a lot of transplants from CA/east coast that are already ready to move to a more money friendly state, and they hate freedom, and they are literally, afraid of guns. These two people are making the move.

Reminder Free States… Stop Being Friendly to Outsiders who doesn’t like our way of life. You will thanks me for it. They don’t like us and they are passive as all get up!

Don’t invite them to BBQ ‘s or drinks.

Ooph, just spent a bunch of money on mags.

I wrote my representatives and I vote. I did remind my state senator that we tried this at the federal level already and it was allowed to sunset as it had no effect. I had to remind her as she was a child at the time and probably doesn’t recall the previous ban. But she voted for it any way like a good party member. My republican representatives voted against the bill thankfully.

Good work! Next election, I will do my best. My mother in law, and two friends have never voted and I will get them registered, and have a ballot party! that’s 3 extra vote in Seattle for the republicans.

Now do your part people

Yep. Anyone who doesn't see this is in pure denial. "Not going to happen to MY state". Just like the people in the states before them said.

Texas will go blue. All the companies leaving California bring along workers and families and thier values and so on.

I agree with this, MT and ID are safe for now.

We "dont do politics here on THR" though. Even though certain politics directly effect the 2A. Before this gets closed, I'll stay relevant to THR rules and say MT was the best hunting land my 88 year old Grandpa ever spoke of, and he has many hunting stories.

and they are literally, afraid of guns.

Sometimes, there's a good reason for it. I was across the street when the Walmart shooting happened. I accompanied my ex girlfriend to the orientation at her new school. We heard every single gunshot. I don't blame her for being afraid of them. I slept with a loaded gun for a while, it helped cope.

I grew up in an area filled with gun related crime, lost family members to gun related crime. I don't blame them for being afraid of guns.

My uncle, a decorated 'Nam vet, saw his two brothers die to VC, and was severely wounded himself. I can understand why he's afraid of guns.

My generation has grown up listening to stories about school shootings. No, guns aren't to blame, but I can understand why people would be afraid of them. Can't imagine what it's like surviving any of those events.

Fear of guns isn't inherently a bad thing. Try and comprehend where people are coming from. Fear is sometimes a preemptive defense.

A little background. I escaped here from California in 1994, specifically came here because, at the time, Washington was most definitely in the top three states in the entire country as far as gun laws (or lack of). The only thing we didn't have was suppressors, which eventually happened. Then, first the ugly initiative process -- since the legislature was unsuccessful -- the antis turned to the King County voters as foisted I-594 upon us, then I-1639. Now came SB 5078.

"Our" attorney general:
"Today our Legislature chose public safety over the gun lobby, and I am deeply appreciative of their service. This policy will save lives and make our communities safer from gun violence," he said.

Arizona, Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee and both Carolinas are on the table. We're retired now, and will enjoy a state with less rainfall and more sunshine...

I’m with ya! I don’t know what the future holds but I know one thing. COME AND GET IT!

The rhetoric in this thread had reached hysterical levels from a few folks. Frustration and anger is appropriate, but some of what was posted simply broke THR's rules.

Explain, please.

Here are the facts without the frothing rhetoric.

The Washington state House by a clear but close margin (55-42) has passed the 5078 bill that prohibits the manufacture, importation, distribution, selling, and offering for sale of “ammunition feeding devices” with the capacity to hold more than 10 rounds of ammunition. The bill will go into effect July 1, if signed by the Governor.

The Governor has said he will sign it.

Current mags are grandfathered.

There's no provision for marking or identifying dates of magazines (like most of these new mag bans there's no way to identify new from those already owned).

Since the bill hasn't been signed into law and will go into effect 1 July (almost 5 months away) it is expected that sales of standard mags will be brisk in Washington until July.

Control the urge to panic. There will be a court challenge. Perhaps it will stop the bill before it goes into effect, perhaps after. There will be political repercussions for those that voted for it if we focus and work to replace those vulnerable with having their offices overturned. WORK to make sure those are effective at reversing this infringement.
