what I ordered what I got got made in serbia instead of made in use. Wanted the Winchester brass, got repackaged ppu. But I got a really good deal on what I wasn't wanting and free shipping . I have win brass I wanted to freshen up. Thanks planet optics. Please fix your picture.
Is fake Winchester ammo common?? This will cause new testing. Bolt vs autoloader.

OK cool it's PPU. The 1K brass has the red seals too. That stuff is a pain to decap.

Lots of people have had problems with optics planet. Having said that, PPU is known to be OK. Looks like it has red primer sealant too, which is an upgrade over most civilian ammo.

I've had good luck bargain shopping optics planet after learning to shop wisely years ago but I got had this time. Sort of.

"Winchester" / PPU for a buck'ish a round.
Real PPU for about 66 cents a round.

It was on sale . White box win , showed the USA big box that has the Styrofoam in it . 19.99 for 16.99. And free shipping. So no biggie. Like back in the day when people buying a Buick got a dang Chevy engine. That fact will show your age.

I rarely buy ammo. When I do it's because I'm after certain brass. Was surprised when the brown truck of happiness dropped the dusty box off. Brought this up because I figured I was the last to know.

It may be better brass. PPU made recently is good and boxer primed (1990s is berdan in x39). But, it also doesn’t match your existing stock and I understand that feeling. Like having 99 matched headstamps in a 100 round box.

I'd have a feeling Winchester didn't wanna ramp up for 7.62 right now and just contracted out to PPU and used older boxes

Well PPU is actually decent ammo, but I do agree this is awful shady.... I would email Winchester and ask if this is actually what they are shipping or what. Cause the made in Serbia text lines up with the ppu headstamp. Kinda odd that Winchester can't make this stuff here though...

PPU produced excellent .303 Brit about ten years ago when I owned six Enfields.

If prices aren't very different for these two current ammo brands, I would gladly take PPU over Winchester White Box any day- no matter Which chambering (handgun or rifle).
This is a much longer story I'll not pursue.

Sad to have to say, but I'd rather have PPU than about any brand 7.62x39 made in USA. Good brass, and if it's anything like the PPU I use, you can expect at least 100 fps more velocity at the muzzle compared to Winchester.

Don't buy from Optics Planet. Its really that simple. I know I don't and there are a lot of others who don't either.

Bought plenty of made in usa in 2012. It was in every Walmart
