Always glad to help out a fellow shooter, Gordon. Particularly since I've learned so much myself on this and other gun forums.
Where you will generally see 3.5# 1911 triggers is on bullseye/competition models like the Springfield TGO1 and Les Baer Ultimate Master or when a gun has had it's trigger lightened from a gun smith.
Carry and general purpose guns from these makers and others typically have 4-5# triggers.
Interestingly enough, the Sheriff’s FTO that issues my CCW has no restrictions on firearms type, but does have a minimum caliber requirement: nothing smaller than .380 ACP. Which I guess I understand in theory; but I would NOT be surprised if somewhere in the state there is an issuing agency that does have a restriction on 1911s. Them being so unsafe in condition 1 and all.
