Interesting. I remember when the Springfield XD45 was rolling out. There were posts from folks upset in California because of the restrictions. IIRC, Sprigfield had submitted the all-black version of the weapon for 'certification'. They subsequently introduced the bi-tone models. Even though there was no physical difference, aside from the color, between the original and bi-tone models, they had to be recertified and didn't make the deadline. If that is an accurate account....dang, I love Texas!!

Edit: Even more interesting, I still don't see any of the Springfield XDs either has having been certified or just recently added.

There are plenty of XDs on the list. The rest of the approved *safe* list:banghead: is 1250 odd lines long. It's amazing what you can't buy though. Want an STI? Forget about it. How many criminals are going to use an STI? :cuss:
 
Wow! We (in Mass) have "The List" too, but guns are seldom (if ever) removed from it. Even guns that aren't made anymore are on the list. Why did CA remove so many?
 
Romma, that's almost funny, except I live in California. I have a fear that someday, years from now, a SWAT team is going to no-knock my house at 4:00 to take away the guns I legally purchased but refused to give up when they banned the last firearm in California. :banghead:

Yeah, I know that. I live it every day too. I'm just wondering if they used some lame excuse to remove those guns this time, or do they "maintain" the list by trimming it down each time without giving a reason.
 
Maybe Para Ordnance will follow in Barrett's footsteps after this one?

The reason guns get dropped is that California makes manufacturers pay to keep a gun listed. It's a ripoff, and a clandestine tax.

If they stop making a variant, the manufacturer will stop paying to have it listed.

We must represent a big market here, for makers to bother paying at all.
 
If you look at the list every gun on it "expires" after a year. What "logic" is behind that is beyond me. Hell, the whole concept of this list baffels me.:confused:

I hate to say it, but I wish every manufacture of firearms would follow Barretts example. It would be a real pain for everyone, law enforcement included. Then maybe they would get the message and end this non-sense. It's a hell of a risk though.

I imagine if all manufacturers of AR-15 and similar tactical style rifles did this, things would change rather quick. Would never happen though.

Why would it never happen? Can we (Kalifornian's) get a little support from the THR community, NRA & GOA to apply pressure to the manufacturers? Damn, it's seems like it's worth a shot. (pun intended)

MONEY!

The State of California wants to TAKE YOUR MONEY. That's what it's about. Guns "expire" because this forces manufacturers to pony up annually.
 
Money is a part of it, no doubt about it. Be curious to know if the money (read "tax") they collect even pays for the administration of the program.
 
I've said it before and i'll say it again, hopefully califonia breaks off allong the fault line, floats away and gets disowned by the rest of the country.

Of course it does. You're not a California politician; probably you expect laws to have some effect on an actual problem - you'll never get elected here with that antiquated notion!
 
As far as I know, Kaliforna Police Departments can buy what ever they want.

Well, it ain't going to happen. And as long as the PRK exists, it sets bad precedence that other states may (and have in the past) follow.
 
Why don't some of you run for office over there? Just act like you are a gun grabber and then once you manage to get a position of power, flip a U turn.
 
I've thougt about running for office, still considering it.

A few problems though:
1. I'm honest
2. I'm not rich
3. I vote Republican
