I see it. :) Thanks KBob!!!

Does anyone know if the blued engraved Remmy had a brass frame that they had on sale months ago?

What a fiasco that was.

You do know that EVERYTHING in the description is false.

There was never an 1851 made by Colt in brass, or in 44 cal. So all of the attributed ownership is false.

Some of the folks listed did in fact own 1851s but not constructed as is implied.

Not everything is false. You can get a good deal on a fantasy gun for $180.
A true statement, Joe. On the 1858 engraved, I got one in the Fathers' Day Sale that is steel framed, with an extra cylinder and free shipping for $199 before they realized their advertising mistake. I didn't know it was a mistake when I ordered but a lot of people found that out later.

Brass frames are weaker regardless of the plating.
Super light loads only
Brass does posses a natural bearing surface slickness making the gun operate very smoothly! A real plus!
Shooting llght load, the brassers can last along time! Lots of hours of shooting use. It could last decades.
Buy steel frames if you plan to shoot a lot or use heavy loads.
Brass sure looks cool!
Just remember this when you order.

Heck, I'd like a 5 1/2" barreled Brasser myself!
I have a 7 1/2" h.44 sand it's a favorite!
Shop wisely!

For the occasional shooter a brass framed Colt or Remington is fine. Looking at the reviews on this plated and engraved brass framed Remmy, some state that they are only going to display it and nothing else. Some simply don't have the time or mess with the cleaning.

I've got a 5" .44 Colt "Navy" (yeah, I know, spare me) for 119 bucks some years back. I just bought it because I couldn't resist. It's not real accurate and, like all Colts, shoots WAY high. I got a 7" barrel for it off of Gunpoker that shoots better, but still high. The thing shoots SO high, ain't much I can do about it.

But, I'd thought of getting a steel frame gun. HOT loads COULD shoot lower because the ball is exiting faster. I would have the option of putting the 5" barrel on the gun and I'd probably do with the other 7" barrel I bought what I'd intended to do in the first place, cut it down for a snubby. :D

At 199, I might get that steel framed Navy. I gotta think about it, though, as I don't know how much I'd shoot it. I prefer my ROA and my 5.5" steel framed Remmy I got about 3 years ago for $179 on a Cabela's sale for shooting. I can actually hit things at 25 yards with those. The Navy ain't that great. I know Wild Bill liked his actual Colt .36 Navys and is reported to have done some fancy shooting with 'em, so the originals must have been better. I don't think Wild Bill coulda hit the side of a barn from the inside with mine.

Right now an 1858 is $200, apply the 4FROSTY20 code mentioned above and it's $180 delivered.

I picked up the short barrel one for my birthday. I already have the long barrel but for that price I thought it might be fun. Maybe I'll put my conversion cylinder on it.

Thanks!
Picked up an .36 "Army Police" for $195 shipped (had a $20 off coupon)
Been eying this model for a while.
I realized it's not historically correct, but looks like a neat gun.

ETA: Bummer. Didn't see the free ship AND $20 off combo.
The coupon I had didn't work with free shipping.

Note the revolvers sold with spare cylinders included. For example, the 1858 steel Remy with a spare is only $30 more than without. They sell the cylinder alone for $59.99 so you are getting it at 50% off. You can't even find beat up used ones with smashed nipples on ebay for that!!! I told my wife that I was done buying for the year but what's one more little one going to hurt? I wonder if the sale is only on until the 17th like the free shipping jolly code at the top of the page? How long is the frosty code good for? If it extends to the 18th, it would put it off until the next cycle of the charge card. I guess I will call them tomorrow. Decisions, decisions - life is soooo complicated.

So I couldn't wait until tomorrow and I called them tonight. "We never know when a sale will end" said they. So I bought the Pietta 1860 with a spare cylinder and used the frosty code. For comparison, I bought this same gun from Cabela's in 2008 for $209.99 and a spare cylinder for $39.99 without free shipping (Yes, I keep my receipts - you never know when something will get stolen.) The total then was $249.98, today it was $229.99 and I got free shipping. Thank you for the heads up Smokin'Joe and for the frosty code Malachi Leviticus Blue! The old one was cased and accessorized and given as a gift for a friend's 60th birthday the following year so my collection has lacked an 1860 ever since. In the last week now I have bought two. This one and an ASM, Colt marked, full flute via GunBroker. My wife will understand and I will understand her next Park Lane jewelry purchase. 33 years of understanding each other!

Hot dam, the Dance and Brothers .44 can be had for 180 bucks delivered using the promo code. I've been hankerin' for one of those ever since I read a book on Confederate revolvers.

It's a chilly evening here in New York, and the missus is sitting near the fireplace sipping a glass of wine and reading. I cleaned the floors today, fixed the thermostat, and trimmed the dog's toenails. So I'm sure she wouldn't object. On the other hand, I really don't need another gun.

Hmmmm … credit card in hand ...
