I go to California Polytechnic University, Pomona. I've been playing with the idea of trying to start a campus gun club. We would need to get a professor to advise the club, as well as members to join. There are no guns on campus so meetings would just be to discuss gun stuff. I'm looking to organize a monthly shoot at Burro Canyon.

Does anyone have any advice or expirence with this? Does anyone here go to Cal Poly? I'm looking for help before I get into something that might not work out.

Are there any THR members willing to participate as speakers, or help out on range days? It'd be nice to get some people with credentials (retired LEO, Military, Legal, Politican, Gun Smith, reloading instruction, hunting instruction, etc.)

so far I found one person on calguns that will be here in the fall. IO know people on campus that would be interested. What I will try is to contact all the rightwingish clubs as well as the libertarian minded clubs to try and find people who'd be interested in an informal student shoot (doesn't that read strange:neener: ) at burro canyon (closest real range). If that turns up a decent number I might try and start the club in fall. I will still have the obstacle of finding a professor willing to mentor the club, have any suggestions?

As for professors, I'd try the Social Sciences building. You may come across some antis, but I'm sure the political science/humanities/social science teachers would be interested in CA gun laws.

As for membership, don't forget a lot of students commute to school....but Burro is a good middle area for range time.
