Lets hear opinions about the best pistol caliber, taking into account any reason ranging from ease of CCW, stopping power, price, etc.

A .22 is the best, easy to conceal, high rd count, cheap and i have heard it has killed the most people world wide.

ps also favored by certain mall personal!

Well, the most versatile may be the .357 magnum.
If you're not concerned about animals, the 9mm has decent stopping power, and is cheap for a center-fire.

9mm. Seals use it, I use it, the whole world uses it. All around most practical? Yes. The best? No. .357 Sig is the best. Expensive, hard to find. But the best. For everything, go 9mm.

Huzzah, an original topic!

I'll play anyway. .45 colt wins for me, you can get anything from minimal recoil CAS loads to +P loads that challenge the .44 magnum's throne. Only drawback is price if you don't reload.

If ever a cartridge was designed for effectiveness and concealed carry, it is the mighty .25acp!

I always thought the round could bring true "high capacity" into the pocket pistol realm. A 20 or 30 shot pistol being possible.

Just picture in your mind a bad guy trying to do some bad deeds to you while engulfed in a cloud of 45gr .25 caliber bullets!

Are certain calibers capable of inflicting greater tissue/organ damage than others? Of course. But the real truth is no bullet fired from a hand held firearm will produce a reliable and instantaneous one stop shot unless it damages the brain or upper spine. I just finished discussing this point on another thread. That is a point worthy of remembrance in "caliber wars".
