AB 352 is now expected to be heard on the Assembly floor this Thursday, May 12. AB 352 expands the definition of "unsafe handguns" to include semi-automatic pistols that are not designed and equipped with an array of microscopic characters, which identify the make, model, and serial number of the pistol, etched into the interior surface or internal working parts, which are then transferred by imprinting on each cartridge case when the firearm is fired. Please continue to contact members of the Assembly before Thursday, May 12, asking them to oppose AB 352. Assembly Members can be reached at (916) 319-20 then your district number. You can find further contact information on your elected officials by using the Write Your Representatives tool at www.nraila.org

I honestly don't know about that. Some things that happen in California are just too kooky, bizarre, or outright insane for anyone else to even consider.

Maryland has their "ballistic fingerprinting" that the police want to get rid of now, because it's a huge drain on their resources and hasn't helped to solve a single crime.

Here's a thought... would the manufacturers give up one of the biggest customer bases (think of CA's population!) or just make all of their firearms with such features?

Just called my Assy Member Russ Bogh's office. The lady working there told me
that some big wig union rep died and that the vote has been put off until next
week as far as she knew. Seems all the politicos' want to show up for the
funeral. I guess it's this week sometime. Don't know who it was that died.

I wrote to Gene Mullin, my assemblymember.

I don't know his record, but prior to the .50 cal ban (which he voted for :barf:), I sent him some packets of information by USPS Priority Mail, followed up by an email. He personally confirmed that he received it, reviewed the documents, and had a few questions which I answered. Some reasonable discussion ensued, but he still voted for it.

It's nice to know that some politicians actually listen to their constituents, even if they don't necessarily agree with them.

Most likely they will make all their firearms with the required features. A few makers who don't sell many guns in Ka may abandone that market however.

I plan on boycotting any manufacturer that decides to play ball with KA.

I don't know about the manufacturers, but at some point the demands of the California Legislature are going to exceed the profits they can make in that market - large as it is. Then, and only then, will they stand up and say, "NO!"

I presume that law enforcement agencies are exempt from the proposed requirements.

And all of this should work wonders for the used handgun market.

Sure glad I live in Arizona, and not next door.
