hi guys,
What exactly do they do to a handgun to make it CA certified. I expect to receive a Ruger Blackhawk very soon that is CA certified.
Thanks,
John

Single action revolvers are exempt but all other hand guns are submitted by the manufacturer for "testing" which costs $$$ - if there were not so many people here I doubt you would be able to buy a double action revolver or semi-auto pistol.

They actually don't do anything different to the gun to make it certified.

It is the same Blackhawk sold everywhere else in the country.

All it means is that Ruger submitted the prototype guns for CA testing and paid the fee to have that model certified for sale in CA.

I don't think the Blackhawk was ever submitted for testing as single actions are exempt. The Ruger web site may say "Califronia Certified" only because all single action revolvers are "certified" - i.e. exempt from the stupid law in the first place.

Oh the glory of the tree hugging ignoramus hippies.

Don't sell these people short. The architects of California's draconian gun laws are very calculating, highly educated anti American socialists who learned their craft from the world's best. Nazi Germany. Stalin's Russia. Mao's China.

They know exactly what they're doing and are moving incrementally to completely strip California of all privately owned firearms.

To label them "tree hugging hippies" is a mistake. Don't be dismissive.
