I forgot about grease for the barrel nut and a wrench to tighten muzzle brakes. As Varminterror pointed out, I had all these things except the armorers wrench long before I ever bought an AR. I bought an upper vice block too but have never used it as I prefer just a padded vice.

Working on uppers became much easier when I got my Reaction Rod.

The only tools I really bought to build my first (and so far only AR) was a castle nut wrench. And a vice block that I could bolt to my work table. Later I did find a tool that helps put in take down detent pins. Would have saved me all sorts of expletives being shouted in my work shop.
