Calling All Sheepdogs...

Anthony:

As a former student of self-indoctrinated american style Bushido, an asian history buff and a 15 year martial artist, let me give you one piece of insight into Bushido:

It wasn't practiced by the lords of japan... but it was expected by their serving samurai. Oh, sure, they paid it lip service.

But they used it to keep the swords pointed in the right direction.

Also... not all warrior codes are the same as Bushido. Please don't equate them thusly.

Don't you suppose that something is driving your sword for you rather than your own happiness? (Wow, there's some innuendo in that sentence!!)

I'm definitely not a sheep...Sheepdog?Well,I AM a private security contractor.Maybe more of a half-breed ,street-dog.:neener:
Self-sufficiency among others is always to be encouraged.think of it as a learning/evolutionary curve. As others here touched on,ther IS much damage to the proper midset that has been wrought by "dumbing down"...even disregarding fireams /weapons usage, look at the martial arts /self-defense instruction in many (thankfully not all ) areas. Some schools are "McDojos",places that turn out people thinking they can advance without actually knowing how to fight or to improve one's physical condition.or a place where the soccar moms drop off their kids to fill a day without actually learning anything. At theother end of th especurum, there are many schools/gyms that are atytempting to break into the MMA/UFC scene. There they get all of the skills and tools with none of the restraint/discretion in codes like Bushido.People either want "aromatherapy with mysticism",or vicious circus animals. There is definitely a "split" happening...people who eithe rfind the very notion of effective defensive action repellant;or are all aggression and no ethics...sorry to rant.

I happen to like the basic Sheepdog analogy, but some folks take it way to far.

I guess since I'm not an LEO, I'm just a 'sheep with teeth' and I think I'm okay with that. I'm certainly no Samurai; less Bushido, more 'I aim to misbehave'. :D

Don't get me wrong, if I saw someone in trouble (a sheeple if you will) I'll more than likely get involved. I say 'more than likely' because everything comes down to a cost/benefit analysis based on the risk to me & mine.

I like the Badger analogy too. I can be a cranky SOB when I want to be...
