I can’t imagine being one of those people that are so uptight they can’t go to range and just have fun. Everything doesn’t have to be practice, doesn’t need to be defense training.
The majority of the I time I go shooting now days it’s more to enjoy time with my brother and a friend or two than anything else. When I’m shooting in my yard, normally alone, it’s normally just for the fun of it.
I don’t have to time to put into real practice like I once did, so nowadays it’s much more about enjoyment, a concept that seems lost to some….sadly.
To answer the OP’s question, yes. I have lots of fun hitting big targets. Of course, if real die hard practice is fun to you then get after it..
