I was told that using aluminum cased ammo could be damaging to the breech face of my gun. I have a 1911 in 9mm and haven't had any problems so far using CCI Blazers, that I can see anyway. It definitely shoots cleaner in my gun than Winchester's white box does. The cost factor is a big plus. So right about now, I don't know whether to give up on shooting Blazers or not. How do you guys, and gals feel about it.

Is your slide made of aluminium? If it's steel, I don't see how the cases could damage it. The only damage I've seen to a 1911 breech are the cracks that form at the squares on each corner (non radiused). Even then, those were race-guns shooting hot-rod ammovery quickly and very often. Enjoy the Blazers, Frank.

No, it will not damage a breechface unless a grossly overloaded factory Blazer cartridge explodes in the chamber and flame erodes the breechface.
Of course there will likely be even more serious damage to the gun in other places,,,,,

As long as the cases are not oxidized it won't hurt a thing. Popular myth though, I've been hearing it for years.

I've put tens of thousands of rounds of Blazer aluminum-cased ammo through my Glocks in high-volume courses and just regular training. No problems whatsoever to date.

Besides, do you really think CCI wouldn't have closed its doors under a blizzard of lawsuits if this particular Internet rumor had any real teeth to it?

The only area where Blazers are not a good idea is open-bolt full-auto weapons. When I did LFI-3 with Mas Ayoob, those of us shooting Blazers had to swap out some of our ammo for brass-cased rounds for the full-auto portion of the course, as the aluminum cases apparently can't handle the impact of a reciprocating open-bolt design in full-auto fire. Makes sense to me.
