Bayonet shroud and heat shield are one piece held on by three screws. Only drawback to taking that off is the bayonet/heat shield are where the bead sight is located lol.
And yes, it's my home defense gun, sits by my bed when I'm not at the range. It's a handy little shotgun and I've been having alot of fun with it.
