Unless you wanna also consider a break top cartridge .38 Colt that has black powder in its shells. It's an oldie, with "F&W" on it. Don't know much about it, other than it belonged to an old friend (long dead) who gave it to my cousin. My cousin gave it to me, he was afraid of it. It'd only make me nervous if it was loaded. It's got about 1/64" worth of slop (fore/aft) when the cylinder is in... and although it locks when cocked, I'm not 100% sure the timing is what it should be. It's a double action 5-shot revolver. The cylinder free-wheels (clockwise from behind) when the hammer is at rest (forward). It does have a fairly positive stop when turned counter clockwise. It's an old nickel plated job, with the black grips. I'm sure it's in need of a good cleaning inside... I'd have to get myself some drifts to drive the pins out to tear it down. I've got an old "partial" box of shells for it too. This is a close rendition of it... the grips are a little different though. So... it may be an old "Forehand & Wadsworth". It appears to be a little "newer" version of the company's offerings. The top of the barrel lists it as "Forehand Arms Co. Worcester MASS USA" Line two on the barrel lists "Pat'd Dec 7 86 & Jan 11 87". Looks like it may be of a turn of the century 1900ish vintage gun. It's number 232674 and has matching 2674 on quite a few of the parts. I've got a hunch that the gun is a "Black Powder" only gun... but the cartridges I have for it may not be filled with black powder.

Hiratdog,

Yeahhh...post a picture of it..!

It 'counts' as a BP Arm...

The Shells you have for it...are .38 Colt 'New Police' maybe...being the same Cartridge as .38 S&W.

".38 Colt" usually means .38 Long Colt, which was longer than .38 Colt New Police/38 S&W.

.38 Long Colt was also called .38 US Service Cartridge for the Military having adopted it for a short time.

The various smaller Break-Tops, when in .38, were .38 S&W (or .38 Colt New Police, being Colt's name for the same Cartridge)

There was a .38 Short Colt Cartridge early on...same diameter as the later .38 Long Colt or.38 S&W Special at .357...and these are smaller diameter than .38 Colt New Police/.38 S&W at .361

Amended with a full load of pix of it and the shells. Six shells are missing from the box, it's a little tattered, but intact mostly.

Yeowie...this Thread is a real dazzler of fine Cap and Ball Revolvers..!

Nice...

I use a Canon Power Shot G9 (12 Megapixel). I have to reduce them for Photobucket use... probably lose a little in the process. I use the macro feature for the close ups.

Nice collection. No, great collection. And the display is very well done.
I count 25 under glass. Is that all?

Jaeger, you need to spend less time on this forum and more time polishin'...errr, I mean...shootin' those things! ;)

Great collection!

I wish I could

spend more time shootin them , and my modern guns , and my airguns fettish too . Oh , and no , there is more , I just haven't built anymore cases , yet . :)
Then there is the SAFE and so on and so on . Plus I am pretty lame at taking pictures as I go . Those pics are heck at least two years old ?
My gun room is wall to wall , and wall to wall unfinished projects unfortuntely. It's called OCD !

Here's an unfinished wall of projects , notice another half dozen cap and ballers stuck on the rack hangin by the barrels on rubber covered hooks also ;) . The grey case on the ground by the black case is an unfinished case I really ought to finish :D

My Rebels sit in a seperate case altogether, wouldn't want any Yankee guns rubbin off on um you know :D

100_0412-1.gif

And I shoot Ten Meter for real with this Russian gun , takes some time of mine too .

And of course my OCD is not limited to Civil War Era either , I enjoy 1911 Competition too , which takes the rest of my time . I actually find time for eating and sleeping and gunsmithing and working for a living in there somewhere too ?

My other fettish, the 1911 Springfield Armory Longslide Target .45

It never ends , thank God Almgihty :D No such thing as too many guns, just too little time and too little money . This is nothing , MadCB's collection dwarfs mine .

Das Jaeger :D

I am in my fortys so not sure how that happened ! LOL ! :what:

Hey , I started with one gun you know , just like everyone else :) Having a professional gunsmith for a Dad helped my passion right along though :D
He coaxed me into holding and helping me shoot my Gandads Parker Hale side by side when I was four , and I have been like this ever since :D
