Looking for a lock and key car safe that mounts safely somewhere underneath the drivers seat. Do not want anything electronic with batteries or with a fingerprint scan. Have an iphone and I know how well the fingeprint function works when I need it.
Looking for reccomendations on a good lock and key budget safe for the car.

I'm looking at the Bulldog Car Safe, any experiences with it?

I was going to lock the glovebox, but I dont think it's that secure, and I dont need my car destroyed more than necessary if broken into.

I have a Bulldog in my truck. Nice product for the money. When you first get it, you may need to tweak it a little to make sure the lid overlaps the base properly, but its pretty simple to do. Installation is easy. The outer housing just screws or bolts to your vehicle floor. The box slides into the housing and locks securely. A thief with a good pry bar and 5 or 10 uninterrupted minutes can defeat it, but I think that could be said of any of the car safes I looked at. Get the larger size if you want to store a full size pistol. Mine fits a Beretta 96 and two spare mags.

It's a specialty market, and that seldom equates to "economical."

I'm a little surprised that there are not more inserts for center consoles, if only for car stereo parts and the like.

Oh, and you will probably find more room under the passenger seat than the driver's, especially if there are electric adjustments for that seat. Which will make getting the passenger's seat out to install a floor-mount safe in there.

Yeah, I know a good safe is going to be an investment. While I'm not looking to buy a mini fort knox, I am looking for something slightly better than simple concealment.
You make a really good point about the space underneath the drivers seat, and the electronic doodads. Going to have to spend some time looking over good spots accessible to the driver.
The biggest thing I'm trying to avoid is having to disarm outside of my car by the trunk. Bad situation all around even though a car is a "safe haven" in Illinois.
