Carry permit renewal time

>>The MA permit has to be renewed every year, and this year took 3 months<<

Which is why I said ta hell with it. Mass is just too hard to do business with. Fortunately, I have little reason to go there anymore.

I envy you guys! Illinois took 5 months to inform me my renewal application refresher class certificate which I attached to the online application was “illegible”. I attached a better photo and resubmitted it. It was placed at the back of the line! It took 4 more months to get my new permit. The whole time my CCL was listed as pending and was still valid.
The entire intent is to make it as difficult as possible for anyone to legally carry in Illinois.

Same here in nj for initial...make it almost impossible,I have many freinds who would not deal with it and never applied.Girl at my PD is great, although no time suggested she said do it 3 months prior to be safe.

I just did my Kentucky CCDW renewal online to start decade number 3. Took longer to take the selfie for the photo upload than the rest of the process. Last time when it came in I had to drive to the sheriff's office to pick it up.

Minnesota is pretty clear-cut. You have 90 days before expiration in which you can apply for renewal (and 30 days after expiration to apply at the renewal rate, later than that is the new application rate). Legally they must issue or deny within 30 days of application, and failure to notify of issuance or denial constitutes de facto issue of the permit. Regardless of when you apply for renewal, the renewal effective date is the day after the expiration date of the old permit.

Here in Northern California you have to complete a 4 hour class every 2 years. Takes about a week once you turn in the signed paperwork to the Sheriffs Office after you’ve taken the class.

Cuyahoga County, Ohio. Last summer I renewed mine. Had the permit in a week. Some County’s are same day. My out of State Fl. Permit was mailed to me back to Ohio within about 10 days.

To renew my Florida CCW license I went to the tax collector’s office and presented my renewal application and credit card. I sat down and chatted with the clerk while the computer printed my new license. The process took about 20 minutes.

Just filled out the online renewal for the GA Weapons Carry License. I will go to the probate court office to sign in person and pay the fee. The new license will appear in my mailbox in a couple of weeks.

Renewal process can be done online or at the sheriff's office. Takes about 15 or 20 minutes to fill out the paperwork. And I get the new permit in the mail less than 2 weeks later, usually one week. Before our new sheriff took over, they would print out a new permit right there in the office. But now they are contracted out and mailed.

Pretty much before you leave the sheriff's office in the county of residence I live in in Ohio. I feel privileged to live in America and all the more so when residing in one of the "free" states.

In Florida I used to renew by mail. It took a couple of weeks and you had to submit a new photo. Now my county does it at the driver's license office. I walked in handed the clerk the renewal notice. She took my photo and printed my new permit and I was out of there in 15 minutes. I do live in a rural county now and everything is faster. In South Florida at the DMV you had to wait in line to get a number so you could sit for an hour or two until they called your number. Where I live now, you walk in, the clerk greets you and you are out in 5 minutes or less.

And in Florida you can renew online, which is what did; upload a photo from your phone and the new license arrives in about two weeks.

I had to get an out of state CC permit for MN, because I travel to there often and they don't recognize my Ark permit. To renew it last summer, I had to take a course (which I did online) and then do a qualifying shoot with an approved trainer. I assumed it was the same for MN residents, but maybe not?

For the Arkansas enhanced CC permit renewal, I only had to do a short qualifying shoot with an approved trainer. No classes, etc.

It’s not a concealed carry permit but Florida has an armed security “G” license that is renewed every two years. I started work here in South Florida when I moved down here in 2021. I qualified last month on the range at my job, filled out the paperwork with someone from the training department, and mailed it off. I figured I’d have to drive a hour to get the new card like when I initially applied. But two weeks later I got my new ID card in the mail at my house. Way more convenient than other states I’ve lived in.

And now when my concealed carry permit expires in five years I won’t have to renew it. I am so glad I moved here.

We got a notification letter from the sheriff's department 90 days out. We sent our renewal applications in within the week and got them back before our old permits expired.

Given I had the renewal in my hand before my old permit expired I'm going to say the turnaround time was nil

Hi...
My renewal here in Pennsylvania came up a few months ago.
Sheriff sent a reminder form, filled it out and mailed it, renewal paperwork showed up in the mail in about a week. Stopped at the new satellite sheriff's office, walked in, photo license done in about a minute. Nice conversation about exercising 2nd Amendment rights with the two on duty sheriff deputies.
