Anyone know of a good book or collector's guide for Case XX knives?

Specifically looking for information on folding knives from the 1920-1940 period.

Thanks,

Not to sound like a smartass but yeah I did try Google. It's like anything else though, I'd rather purchase one good product vs spending my money on ten different ones. I think that is the main reason people ask questions here.

Wharncliffe

That Seahorse of yours is a gorgeous example of the type. I have a special soft spot for that pattern. Read on . . .

The Seahorse pattern is a variation on the [post=4078441]Classic Wharncliffe Whittler[/post] design.

When I was younger, I was given a [post=4078431]Holley Wharncliffe Whittler[/post] by my grandmother. If I had had any idea what I'd been given, I'd have taken better care of it. (Mine had plain white bone handles, with better fit & finish than either of these below.)

I've bid on several Case Classic Wharncliffes and Seahorses on eBay, but the bidding has always exceeded my wallet's ability to stay in the game.

The main difference between the Classic and Seahorse patterns is that the Classic has two identical pen blades (like the Holley) and the Seahorse has a pen blade and a coping blade.

One of these days I'll scrape up the money and gumption to snag one of those.

Till then I'll have to appreciate them from a distance.
