If I was a citizen that this police dept was supposed to serve I would be scared and would want the Union Boss and the head bosses at that department GONE. They seem to just want revenge and not justice. They give me the creeps.:what:

He could be reindicted for manslaughter or some other charge.

He might get indicted for something if new evidence is presented to a new grand jury. He won't be reindicted for he had never been indicted the first time.

When the initial grand jury refused to indict for murder, if it conducts its affairs as most states' grand juries, it had the option of returning indictments for lesser offenses such as voluntary manslaughter. That it did not closes the door on those charges unless new evidence is gathered and presented to a grand jury.

there is no statute of limitations on felonies.

WRONG. There is no statute of limitations on murder. Writing a bad check over 500 bucks is a felony... they won't come after you 50 years later... of course, the nuances vary state to state.

in virginia

this is a law and order state. and its one of those where they can always bring up a felony. had one null prosced and had to go back for a complete dismissal and expungement which is how i found out that a felony is forever here.

Well you can always expect the police to stand with one of their own. After all, think of coworker relationships in any unionized workplace. You've got "the guys" and "the bosses." When you also take into consideration that people with law enforcement degrees typically only have one potential employer in town, it's obvious that "the guys" are going to look out for one another.

So it's no wonder why the local PD initially tried to throw the book at him.
