CCW holders are the modern Jedi

Besides, while lightsabers are way spiffy keen, it's got to be really exceptionally embarassing if you drop one--on you foot, and then the floor beneath--while it's lit.

Many sabers(Since a Jedi must craft his own there are many "styles") use a constant pressure switch. Those that don't seem to have automatic shutdown mechanisms. So if dropped they typically turn off.

I think the Jedi concept as explained by Obi Wan in ANH works well on a personal level. E.g., if a Jedi sees a man exploiting his workers or beating the helpless, he will intervene. Through strength of character the Jedi will see what is "right".

However, this concept does not hold up so well when applied to nations or planets. In TPM Qui-Jon and Obi-wan are sent to Naboo to "mediate" with the Trade Federation. But what "mediating" can they really do? What authority do they have to grant concessions for one side of the other? I think their only option would have been to get all the parties together for a peace tolk, where again, their supposed training in diplomacy and strong moral compass should see that everyone was dealt with fairly.

However, Lucas lost sight of what a Jedi should be and instead turned them into assassins and enforcers, understandable since every video game featuring Jedi has them mowing down any who oppose them and the movies are supposed to be action films. Still, I wish the Jedi counsil would have been better explained and shown in a more competent light.

I can't decide if I want to be Padme or Leia!?!?!?!? Course I'm married so I'm not sure who I could be. And neither of them get to use lightsabers so I don't know if I'd want to be either of them.

I know Lucas is a political old man, but the movies are still good action flicks.

Sometimes, but certainly Yoda would seem to be an exception to this, as when in the latest flick he throws his weapon at one stormtrooper, does some dragonball z sillyness and moves on. In the TV ads for the console game release for episode 3, there would seem to be much throwing of lightsabers; given that Lucasarts produced the game, one would have grounds for assuming that there is more than the one movie-based precedant in Jedi lore for tossing a device that can apparently cut through damm near anything at an opponent. The wisdom of this escapes me, but again, what do I know...

Gus - actually, Leia does get to use a lightsaber, but not until later on in the books after Luke teaches her the ways of the Force. Also, Leia doesn't die - well, as of the most recent book anyway, after they've defeated the Yuuzhan Vong.

Being a Wookie wouldn't be so bad. See HERE.

When you guys started talking about Rand, I immediately thought you were talking about Rand al'Thor. Yes, I am a nerd. Yes, I'm ok with that. I think I'd rather be able to channel the One Power than to wield the Force. Of course, there are no firearms in the WoT universe...just to keep this on topic :uhoh:

Vader's saber also seems to have the drop disconnect safety pinned, since he throws it at luke in Return of the Jedi.

i think diane would fit into that vader suit just fine.

NO WAY! Every time I see the emperor, I think of Dianne Feinstein. She's so obviously the emperor... let's do a quick comparison. Feinstein and Palpatine are both:

1) Old
2) Ugly
3) Deformed/Mutilated
3) Evil big government politicians

Anyone good with photoshop? I would love to see a mock-up of Feinstein's face in the Emperor's hood.
