Welcome to the Centerfire Match for the month of November! This match is open to any centerfire rifle. This match is meant to be challenging and educational, but most of all FUN. Hopefully it will get you out to the range and shooting your rifle. If you have one handy, make sure an bring a friend too.

->Iron sights and non-magnified optics and red dots. Shot at 50yds.
->Scopes and other magnified sighting devices. Shot at 100yds.

There are Three Rifle Classes in the magnified division (only one for the non-magnified division):
->Unlimited/Benchrest Rifles (highly modified/custom rifles, machine rests, heavy rifles (over 20lbs), very high magnification optics [over 20x] may be used).
->Target Rifles (modified rifles, rests, heavy rifles (over 10lbs), high magnification optics- over 10x [with an upper limit of 20x] may be used).
->Sporting Rifles (Includes All Non-Target Class Autoloaders, Bolt Actions, Single Shots, Pumps, & Lever Rifles). Rests/sandbags/bipods are not permitted in this class, but shooting sticks (either the crossed or walking stick variety) are allowed. Use of a sling is encouraged. Shoots may be taken from any position. Rests/Sandbags/bipods are not permitted in this class.

50 Yd. (Irons) Target: See image below. Scale to 100% on standard 8.5x11in. paper. The objective is to fire 5 shots at the 10pt. bulls. Scored as marked with additional bonus targets on three of the corners for all who dare. The bonus targets are worth an additional 10 points for each shot touching the black center (no points or penalty is awarded/applied for any shot lying outside of the black bullseye but ), but you risk disqualification if you don't break the outside ring, for a total possible score of 80pts!

100 Yd. (Optics) Target: Same as above.

When you are satisfied you've done your best post/attach (or shoot me a PM) a photo or scan of your target with as much of the following information as possible: Forum name (or name you want posted in the results), Rifle, make, model, vintage (if known), Sights/Optics (with magnification if applicable), Ammo (or load, if you care to divulge your secret recipe), Position, Distance, Conditions (in/outdoors, wind, temperature...). Multiple submissions are allowed (in same or different class with same or different rifles).

Self-scoring is encouraged and appreciated. All submissions due before 12:00AM (local time) November 31st. ;)

Oh yeah!

The bonus targets are worth an additional 10 points for each shot touching the black center (no points or penalty is awarded/applied for any shot lying outside of the black bullseye but ), but you risk disqualification if you don't break the outside ring, for a total possible score of 80pts!

I, uhh, don't get it. LOL 10 pts for every shot touching the black bull with a max of 80 points, but DQ if you break the outermost circle?

Now that looks like a fine, fun target! My wife giggled when she saw it. Might even be big enough to catch all my bullets in a scoring ring this time!

The 80 is the point total for all rounds, including the 5 shots in the main target (for 50pts), and the 3 rounds for the little bonus targets (for an additional 30pts.). Note that these bonus targets are optional.

Figured it would be a good way to sight in that rifle for hunting season (even if you won't be using it for turkey).

:)

Wind has been ridiculous lately...couldn't wait anymore.

Shot my bench gun and it wasn't up to par. I did clean it pretty good last week though.

I wanted to shoot my FDE AR again, but ran out of ammo.

I'd hate to see what you could do when it was up to par, on a good day with no wind. The rifle isn't the only thing you cleaned...good shooting!

:)

KSCCHTrainer graciously donated a easier to print target (in PDF format) for anyone that has had a bit of trouble with my copy. See the included attachment below...

Thanks fellas.

I'll shoot with a regular gun too...then you'll see how much I really suck. ;)

Okay. There are 4 holes in the bullseye (5 impacts, but I'll get to that later). There are a number of random .22 holes from some guy down the line from me who set up his target at 75 yards and had a number of pass-throughs on this target and the rest of my target backer.

I fired five rounds on this bullseye. The top left hole is elongated slightly, so that is where my other bullet went. I did not fire any rounds at the "extra" bullseyes, which I'm sure will mean that I am just participating again, not in the running for any placements.

The bullet that obliterated the number 9 cut the line for the 10, so there are 4x10 and 1x8, for 48 total points.

I used my very basic Savage 11, Bushnell 3x9 scope, basic cheap synthetic stock, in .243 Win. It is a combo rifle that I bought this summer for my Coues whitetail hunt at the end of this month. I fired from prone, using a Shooter's Edge bipod (I was practicing for my hunt, and will at least have the bipod with me when I am in the mountains).

The load is 34 grains of IMR4895, 100gr Hornady Interlock BTSP, Winchester case, CCI large rifle primer. This was the second loading of these cases.

Thanks, Maverick. It was fun to shoot this one, and at least the bullseye looks better than last month's. :D I printed a few more and shot them with other variations of this load, but this one was the best. Did a couple with my .357 and Single Six between strings, too.

Nice targets guys!

I put a 4x12x40 Nikon on my 6.5 x 55 Swede and shot this target with factory ammo.
Shot at 100 yards from the bench, with sandbags.
(Looks like I'll have everything I need to finally start reloading for this rifle next month).

Magnified Target Class,
Score, 45.

Thanks Maverick. Yep, you just gotta like that caliber.
At least I beat the guy who accidentally shot sixgunners target with a 22! :D
He would have had a 14 if he hadn't DQ'd on the upper right bonus bull. Not bad!

Yep, you just gotta like that caliber.
Personally I like the .260Rem. & 6.5mmCreedmoor better (mostly due to the short action length), but I have a lot of respect for the old 6.5x55mmSwede that did the same thing (and a little more) 100yrs prior!

:)

Thanks sixgunner.
Good luck CJ.
The weatherman decided to dump 10" of white stuff on the local shooting range here today.:cuss:
No problem though.... they have a snowblower.
Should have no trouble shooting out to 100yds this winter.

Sorry for the delay posting the results, I completely forgot. Anyway, here goes:

Magnified Division: Unlimited/Benchrest Class: esheato - 80
Magnified Division: Target Class: Caddisflied - 45
Magnified Division: Sporting Class: sixgunner455 - 48

Congratulations guys! :)

Cool! That was about what I was remembering. Thanks, Mav.

This was a much simpler target than this month's Christmas tree, so I don't know if we'll have more participants or not this time around if the Turkey scared people off. :D

No problem, 6gunner.

I really don't know what to do about participation...particularly this time of year (when folks are busy and the climate forbids some from getting out). I'm considering going to a bi-monthly or quarterly match instead of the current monthly theme (the rimfire match, unless participation falls off, will likely stay the same).

:)

Oh, I understand about the weather. Even down here in AZ it was cold today - only got up to 48 F. Brrr!!

I think we should stay monthly, and just do the same targets as the rimfires for now, anyway.
