I am lusting for a CG 63 Swede target rifle. I came across one with Elit diopter in about 95% condition (even still has the sticker on the stock) the guy is asking $800. He let me take it to the range. Off the bench it put all 5 into the 10 ring on an SR21 target with just some 6.5 hunting ammo I had lying around. Anyone tell me much about price and availability of these fine rifles?
Thanks

First thing you need to do is go to the Swedish Military Rifles collectors site:

http://forums.gunboards.com/forumdisplay.php?49-Swedish-Military-Firearms-Forum

You will not find anyone there who is waiting for the zombie apocalypse.

The CG-63 rifles vary in price (600-900) depending on the sight configuration. Both front and rear, plus who made the original receiver, and whether it is glass bedded in Sweden or here. Plus there are some other oddball thngs like non-government gunsmiths who were also allowed to make them and things like a S&L barrel.
My most accurate CG-63 ran me about $700 a couple years ago. It had a scrubbed and re-stamped serial number and had a GF rear sight and a Elit front sight.

What type of sticker are you talking about? Is it an FSR sticker...???
If I knew where it was I would be waving $750 cash in his face and be prepared to give him $800.
Then you would not have to worry about making the decision.

Does the sticker look like this???

I am warming up the car... Gas is only $4.11 a gallon here... So the trip might be expensive.

I had to glass bed mine. I call her Old Scrub because of the scrubbed serial number.

This is a group after I glass bedded the action.

The CG-63 is the CROWN JEWEL of Swede Mausers.

Wow..nice group! So yours likes R-19? I just bought the rifle @ $775. The guy needed cash..I love Swedes. I have a couple that I bought as bastardized deer rifles. I also have an all # matching 96 I love. Looking for one of the CG 63 .22 trainers but anyone one I find is priced out at the edge of the universe. Thanks for the help and advise..:)

The CG-63s have a different rifling twist than the issue military Swedes.
The regular Swede Mausers have a 1 in 200mm twist rate. The CG-63s have a 1 in 220mm twist rate.
Some CG-63, (like Old Scrub) have a S&L barrel with a 1 in 9 inch twist.
Post some photos and also post over on the Gun Boards site I posted above.
I have a bunch of hand-load experiment data if you want any of it....

By the way there is lots of oil up here. Most very close to the existing pipeline. But due to certain good comrades....we are not allowed to drill for it....

God knows we don't want to endanger the "narrow eyed newt" I would like any load data.. I can tell with some load work ups this thing is REALLY going to shoot..Thanks
