I live in KY and I purchased my first NFA items, a SMG and a "silencer" from a local dealer who did all the paper work, it was painless. I am in the waiting period however I am moving to a new address in the same state of Ky in the same county. What do I need to do to inform the sheriff dept as well as atf? I do not have possession I am waiting on what ever they do.

PS my $400 check to atf/NFA branch was cashed

The only legal way to deal with this is to add me to your trust after your dealer receives the stamps, then have them sent to me and I can change the address for you.

Have you asked your dealer?

Buddy I don't have a trust, I think I see humor in the above statement... You get to have the stuff and not me, slicker than a Walmart chicken.

I had anticipated a conversation with my dealer, just thoght some one may know from personal experience.

MAYBE- do the 4473 with your new address, but don't take possession of the items. Have the dealer hang on to them and put them in his repair log. The same day, submit the change of address form and wait to pick up your stuff after the change of address comes back.

You don’t need to do anything since the move is in-state.

You’ll have to put your new address on the 4473 when it comes time to pick up your new silencer and machine gun. So either bring an updated state ID or make sure you have some other government-issued document with your new address on it to supplement your old ID. This applies to all firearm transfers at all FFLs, not just NFA items. But when a customer has waited all that time for an NFA item and then they don’t have the proper ID or residency documents to pick them up, it’s extra sad.
