changing the finish

I acquired a new Springfield 1911, the GI version, parkerized finish. Can a shop change that finish to a deep blued finish?

Assuming that the answer is yes, can anyone recommend a specific place to have this done..I am really interested in some high quality work to pretty up the gun.

My Springfield Milspec was done by the same guys (Yost Bonitz). Came out with an awesome refinish. Matte frame and polished slide flats.

A blued finish will require the removal of all of the parkerizing. A cheap route to change the color of a parkerized pistol is to have one of the baked on spray coating applied over the parkerized surface. GunKote is a great do it yourself product and they recommend parkerizing as a primer for their finishes.
