Im curious, those of you that have the charter 45 colt, what speed loaders are you using?

I've only had a chance to take it to the range once. And I was time limited. The only ammo I had on hand at the time I cant even recall what it is. But it was the stuff walmart had when they cleared out all the hand gun ammo. But it worked just fine. I'd like to get some 180-200 gr full wadcutters and find a loading that works well.

My 44 special and 45acp Charter Arms are both good shooters. I would expect a 45 colt to feel about the same. They all three shoot about the same size bullet at about the same speed.

One of my friends whines that the recoil is a bit much, but they don't bother me any.

I've carried the 44 a lot lately.

This is what the 45acp looks like:

I had the 45 colt and had CA fit an .45 acp cylinder to it. A screwdriver and a minute of time to switch calibers.

Cost me $100.00 and shipping. Only gun I regret selling.

I have two Charter revolvers, both recent: One in .41 mag that is the most hellaciously recoiling hand gun that I own, and one in .45 LC that is rather close to it in terms of recoil. I like the .45LC, but the real reason I bought it was because I found it at DE Guns for only $169 used. The reason it was so cheap is because such a heavy hitting round in a lightweight revolver takes a toll after a while, IMO - The cylinder lockup is a bit on the sloppy side. However, I've talked to CA and they said they will fix the gun, I just haven't sent it into them yet. It's shootable as it is now, but I don't feel as confident in it (because of the lockup) as I'd like to be. I assume my .41 Mag - which I bought new - will develop the same issue if it's shot enough. IMO, these guns aren't meant to be shot a lot. They do have a lot of punch from a small package, so that might be optimum in some hiking scenarios.

I'm a bit surprised that they make a 41mag version. That is a lot going on in a little gun like that! I like the 45LC option more as I would load it light but am still making a big hole in things with a heavy bullet while still running at reasonable pressures.
