I always thought they were neat. Little gun shooting a big bullet.

I've had Bulldog Pug in .44 special for almost twenty years. It's a very good, dependable gun. I haven't over shot it with thousand of rounds or a lot of +P ammo - it's not intended for frequent, heavy range use. But hell, it is a revolver after all, and what I have always liked about mine is this - pull trigger, big round goes BOOM! and it hits what I'm aiming at -mine is accurate to about 25 yards.

I have a Charter 2000 Bulldog pug that light-strikes in DA. About one round per cylender won't fire in DA. It shoots fine in SA. I sent it back to Charter and it still does it. :cuss: It's pretty much worthless for CCW since I can't trust it to fire.

However, it is WAY more accurate than a snubbie has any right to be.

About 30 years ago, I had two .38's in a row that were lemons. One didn't lock up as much as FROZE up, the other did the spontaneous disassembly.

One thing about the Charter Arms, is that the hammer spring is set to the left, and some rubber grips can act as a brake if you sqeeze em tight, resulting in light primer strikes.

You can fix this by changing grips or hollowing out the left grip panel a bit.

I have a Charter Arms 2000 Undercover.

I have been pleased. Gun has given me no problems. Is fairly accurate. and has shown no signs of loosening up.

I think it is an excellent deal for the price.

Charter Arms Undercover... (not Charco)

My first revolver was a new Charter Arms Undercover. It presently resides in my wifes Impala as her revolver of choice. It was $87.00 (or $78.00) new in 1970 and has been an excellent firearm. The Undercover fits my wifes small hands better than any other revolver I have (S/W J-Frames, Colt Cobra's/DA's). It has always been very accurate. I am very high on the original Undercovers, altho I have read less than sterling reports on the later Charco products.

Recently I bid (but lost) on a new SS Charter Arms Undercover on an auction site on the internet. I still hope to find a SS Undercover at some point.

In my experience these are excellent little revolvers. I think you need to find a new, or almost new Undercover as you might get one that has been abused and it might disappoint you.
