Never saw an Undercover with a 3" barrel!

I like it!

Use to pick up S&W Model 36s with 3" barrels back in day for a lot less than their shorter snubnose brethren.

I had two of them at one time. IIRC, the S/N were only about 10 apart. Both were still covered in the original packing grease. I sold them to a fellow who wanted them more than I did.

To the OP. Congratulations. You'll like that one I'm sure. I've got a 44 Bulldog with a 3" barrel.

Barry, have you shot it yet with the factory wood grips? I think I shot mine only one time with those grips and immediately installed some Pachmayrs. Keep a close watch on all of the screws. They WILL loosen up if you shoot it much.

Shot 20 rounds through it today. Had two light primer strikes, another trip around the cylinder and they fired. They were reloads so I won’t hold it against the gun. The only wife put 4/5 center mass. The grips felt great to me and her.

Me so jelly!

Those appear to be the bulldog grips from the original .44 Bull Dog. Folks did not like them on the Bull Dog with its much heavier recoil and so they turned up in shops and at shows regularly. I put them on my Undercover in 1978 as it made it much easier to fire with greater accuracy when doing fast shooting. Notice it covers both the front and back of the frame and the originals did not so you were flesh on thin metal. The stock that came on the Undercovers were tiny and slick and the gun would squirm about when shooting The Bull dog grips are great and all you need.

I really like that three inch.

Thanks for posting it and sharing with us.

I also changed my UC grips to Pachmayrs after shooting it once.
Those grips look great! I may have to look into them for mine.
The Pachmayrs do the job but are ugly.

Yup. I pretty much hate Pachs on any other revolver but for a Charter they make a huge difference in felt recoil.

I have three vintage Undercovers, and have been developing a liking for three-inchers as of late. I don't remember ever being aware of the Undercover having been offered with one.

Definitely a cool score. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the info. I looked at some pictures of the original grips and I see why somebody changed them and I’m glad they did.
