So somehow i lost the little thumbscrew on my lee pro auto-disk that holds the hopper on. I assume it fell in the trash under my bench, or my daughter ran off with it, but either way i need a replacement. Checked the local hardware store and they couldnt seem to find anything that would work. Being used to RCBS, i contacted LEE asking about a replacement. I assumed i would be just mailed a (probably less than 25 cent screw) in a few days. Ive had rcbs send me parts that were way more expensive and send multiple for free. Instead i recieved a reply with nothing other than a web address. Went to the address and its the part i need. But they come in packs of 2, and it is $4 to ship it. Seriously?!!? $7 for 2 little thumbscrews? So, does anyone else know where to buy them at a more reasonable price?

Call them on the phone, talk to a live person.

Then whine like a whipped dog until they send you one.

See, the thing is, RCBS costs more then Lee to begin with.

BUT, you get what you pay for, in Spades!

I agree call them, but not on Monday you may never get through! Ask nicely.

They are brass so a little more expensive, A local Hardware ( a real hardware store)store should have something that will work.

I've been on hands and knees finding mine too.
Because the screw & nut are recessed into the side of the base, it's a one-off knurled nut. You could find a regular nut at any decent hardware supply, but it would be a pita to to take on and off---even a nut driver might not fit into that recesss.

Buy the LEE pair and have an extra, in case the black hole sucks in another one.

Ya'll are obviously not too familiar with your hardware store. I've lost one of these and found it at a True Value. Don't go in and ask for a brass nut for a powder measure, look yourself in their fastener drawers for something in the line for light fixtures. I found the exact same finger nut there. They had them in brass and aluminum. You don't think that Lee, RCBS, etc. actually make the screws, nuts and pins for their equipment or even contracts for the design and build of them? These things are available, usually locally and definitely via internet. They are cheap enough to buy several where you can tape an extra to the press/gadget for the next time you lose one. And you can bring up their outrageous prices ($4 for 2) when the price cost maybe a penny to make but, you are really just paying for the overhead and manual labor to keep and mail out things that you can find from a fastener company, usually locally.

X2
I lost a set screw for my trimmer and Home Depot had a pack of 4 for .25

Ditto the Lee thumbscrews.

Local Tru-Value had a similar item for ~0.45. That and the screws that I cannibalized for some other project.

I'd find a better hardware store. Lee products are made in US so the threads are prolly SAE, so while an exact replacement may not be available, you can find some sort of screw that will work for way less than $1.00...

thanks for the input guys. True value was where i went, and had 2 employees helping me look. I had the original with me and neither employee could find me anything in the nuts/bolts section. Ill give the hardware store another try though, might be an employee who can find me something!

You actually need Thumb nuts not screws. By the time you waste time and gas looking for them you might be better off just buying from LEE. In the overall expense of reloading items it is a small price to pay.:)

Buy the ones from Lee for $7 for two and you will save that much gas running around looking. Then, when you see them on sale somewhere buy another PAD. You will then have replacements you can rob, and an extra set of disks to mess with as you desire.:)

I have delt with both lee and rcbs once I get either on the phone both have provided really good service.
both have sent me several free repair parts with out issue now rcbs wanted the broken decapping pin after a few emails pix were ok.
